Let's move on to the topic.
Thang, you seem to object to Bhikkhuni ordination. Why is that? What is the basis to your objection? Is your objection based on Vinaya?

Re: Discouraging and Encouraging Bhikkhuni Ordination

That doesn't comply with Vinaya, as laid down by the Buddha does it? Who created this bureaucracy? What is the basis. And what is the motivation? It is a lay affair, man. Issuing IDs is an affair of the government. The Buddha doesn't impose vinaya pitaka for lay people. So your objection to Bhikkhu...

Re: Discouraging and Encouraging Bhikkhuni Ordination

Is this supported by Vinaya? Isn't it Vinaya that should administer monastic affairs? Out of the topic question. Lay officials cannot issue identity cards for the self proclaimed bhikkhunis who are not recognized by the sangha. That doesn't comply with Vinaya, as laid down by the Buddha does it? Wh...

Re: Discouraging and Encouraging Bhikkhuni Ordination

Bhante Henepola Gunaratana regularly performs bhikkhuni ordinations and he is the head of Siam Nikaya, North America region. And several monasteries throughout Sri Lanka ordain bhikkhunis, so I imagine most or all do so with the approval of their Nikaya ordination lineage. They do it without their ...

Re: Is it unwholesome to criticise ordained monks?

If monks practice according to vinaya there will be little room to criticise.

If monks behave like lay people, frequent the same places as lay people, involve themselves in politics, partisan and worldly discussion then views that conflict should be expected and considered acceptable.

I can tell you the names of all of these monks. The one at the back far left is Puriso Bhikkhu (myself), who left the robes in 1992
And I believe you did a fair bit of the early translation of Ajahn Chah's talks, for which I am grateful.

Re: Why do we have resentment towards the people are very close to us?

Thank you Mr.Man it sounds good in theory. In practice, we find people very difficult to handle. For instance, you find very difficult people in this forum sometimes. If things are too overwhelming I think sometimes the best thing to do is take a step back. Resentment is part of the human condition...

Re: Why do we have resentment towards the people are very close to us?

What about the reaction from others? "In the same way, Rahula, bodily actions, verbal actions, & mental actions are to be done with repeated reflection. "Whenever you want to do a bodily action, you should reflect on it: 'This bodily action I want to do — would it lead to self-affliction, to the af...

Re: Why do we have resentment towards the people are very close to us?

The question is now how can we solve this problem? Looking after oneself, one looks after others. Looking after others, one looks after oneself. And how does one look after others by looking after oneself? By practicing (mindfulness), by developing (it), by doing (it) a lot. And how does one look a...

Re: Slavic Buddhism vs Western Buddhism

From my experience surely Asians have less cockroaches in mind, they perceive everything in more simple way, for example approach of sanuk and sabai in Thailand. Hi Bhante So greed hatred and delusion are less in Thailand? As for some western ideas, they might sometimes create more stress for peopl...

Re: Slavic Buddhism vs Western Buddhism

I'm not sure he means there is an actual school of Buddhism known as 'Slavic Buddhism' - but then I think you already know that. Bhante is referring to the cultural attitudes of Slavs generally, and how they impact a practitioner coming from that cultural milieu. Is that so. So there isn’t a “Slavi...

Re: Slavic Buddhism vs Western Buddhism

It seems to me that Slavic Buddhism and Western Buddhism is quite different things, because Slavic mentality is quite different from Western Mentality, in Slavic countries we don't have this white guilt, and we don't have all this hypertolerance, multiculturalism, feminism and equality ideas, for u...

Re: Monastic Alms Round in the West

In the spring of 1978, one of those small miracles happened that stop the mind's rational expectations. Keeping to the apparently pointless routine of going out for alms every day, as prescribed by Ajahn Chah, Ajahn Sumedho encountered a lone jogger on Hampstead Heath whose attention was arrested b...
