Re: Who can ordain a Samaneri?

Hi Pilgrim
Not sure if this gives you a definitive answer - "The Samaneri Ordination (Pabbajja) of Sayalay Vimalanyani took place on Tuesday 17th February 2015 in the Big Cave. Ajahn Sujato performed the ordination."

Re: The 'silent crisis' of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh

Meanwhile, I still don't know how there can be innocent victims when there is kamma. Hi binocular I don't think we need to think in terms of innocent (or the reverse guilty) in relation to kamma. Kamma is not a judge I think it is also worth remembering (not that you have forgoten) is that the "'si...

Re: The 'silent crisis' of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh

The teaching of kamma is intended to be applied to one's own development along the path, not to judging others. Understanding kamma is not the same as judging others. Hi binocular So what is your understanding of kamma in relation to the Rohingya? Is it your opinion that the present crisis situatio...

Re: Eating in a restaurant part 2

Now you are saying that what I think and my understanding of what has been presented in this thread is something to be dismissed. No, I'm not saying that, and I wish you would drop the :strawman: and melodrama. You still haven't provided a coherent response to a valid question posed by Binocular po...

Re: Eating in a restaurant part 2

I think that the idea that feelings are best userstood as being 'not mine' etc. is a very important concept.....of course any teaching can be wrongly grasped. Hi chowah So what should be understood as being "mine"? To try to answer just this question would be inadequate to reveal its real meaning.....

Yes, he's clearly not fragile. He presumably just uses whatever tactics he thinks will get what he wants, whatever that is...

Hi Mike
I don't think being "fragile" and having a "fragile ego" are really the same thing.

And also because it has not been shown sexual abuse, drug abuse, paedophilia etc. is more prevalent in Hollywood than elsewhere. In my opinion the OP is based on a false premise and very obviously agenda driven. Do you believe that power tends to encourage ethical or unethical behaviour? Do you bel...

Re: What is it about Hollywood?

Why is Hollywood such a cesspool of sexual abuse, drug abuse, paedophilia, misogyny, sanctimonious virtue signalling, fraud, crime, hypocrisy, cultural Marxism, cover-ups, pervertion, hedonism and other forms of moral and spiritual degeneracy? I wonder if this is an accurate depiction It's inaccura...

Re: Muhammad - Worthy of respect?

Are you more concerned with semanthics and perceived mean words, or are you more concerned with deaths, such as in the Manchester attack? Of course people being murdered is significantly more alarming than "semanthics and perceived mean words" but you are putting forward a false dichotomy. Again, t...

Re: Muhammad - Worthy of respect?

For exampe, if the UK authorities claim that Robert Spencer is more dangerous than the hundreds of ISIS jihadists that have returned to the UK, then they are doing a clear disservice to the British citizens. Pointing this out is not bigotd or intolerant. It's common sense. Hi Modus Do the UK author...
