Re: Member Poll on "News, Current Events & Politics" at DW

Greetings Mr Man, To repeat, I have political views. To repeat, I do not demonstrate political bias in the moderation or administration of this forum. By your over-simplified logic, staff wouldn't be allowed to have an opinion on anything. I don't hear you whinging that, for example, Mike tends to ...

Re: Member Poll on "News, Current Events & Politics" at DW

Greetings Mr Man, I just don't think the admin should be posting silly memes and constantly showing his political bias. Do you? I think that I have views, just like anyone. I also believe I have zero bias when it comes to moderating and adminstrating a forum, which is the role I have been tasked to...

Re: Member Poll on "News, Current Events & Politics" at DW

Greetings Mr Man, There's a previous topic where I outlined how my political views evolved from my Dhamma views. You're welcome to see things differently, because unlike you, I actually respect your intellectual autonomy to see things differently. Is it your contention that Buddhists are not allowe...

Re: Member Poll on "News, Current Events & Politics" at DW

Greetings Mr Man, What Paul is making, now really pay attention and look, is an unsubstantiated slur. He is pushing his agenda (and it is not Buddhist). What "unsubstantiated slur" is that? Now, do speak clearly Mr Man. I'm also rather curious about this supposedly "not Buddhist" agenda that I have...

Re: Member Poll on "News, Current Events & Politics" at DW

That's a far more relevant point, and when push comes to shove it's not really Dhamma Wheel's job to break open the hermetically sealed echo chambers that exist elsewhere and expose certain members to perspectives that they're seemingly incapable of tolerating, or even having a sense of humour or g...

Re: Member Poll on "News, Current Events & Politics" at DW

Look at this post David. Look at the meme. This is from your admin. Do you think this kind of post helps? Does it set a good tone? https://dhammawheel.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=29216&start=540#p472905 It's in the News section, which we're discussing what role that will have in the near future. An ad...

Re: Member Poll on "News, Current Events & Politics" at DW

Whats a good tone? Not that for a Dhamma website. Would it be ok to profess appreciation for Stalin or Che Guevara? For their industrial advances, say, in Stalin's case, and for revolutionary chic in Guevara's.. Why would anyone post that here? And as a meme I don't think it would be appropriate.

Re: Member Poll on "News, Current Events & Politics" at DW

I can assure you we still suspend and ban people who violate the terms of service and we also remove inappropriate posts. We are simply trying to figure out what to do about the heated debates and conflicts, some of which are not violations of terms of service, but simply different political views ...

Re: Member Poll on "News, Current Events & Politics" at DW

If the mods really don't want to ban them they should just restrict them to the lounge subforum where they can ramble on to their heart's content without derailing every single thread on the main forum. I can assure you we still suspend and ban people who violate the terms of service and we also re...

Re: Contemporary threats to free speech

And why do you think that? Do you think he wasn't in contempt of court? He was - but doubtless someone less.. irritating to the prevailing morality would be treated less in a less heavy-handed manner. His arrest didn't seem particularly heavy-handed And who do you think it might be that has conspir...

Re: Contemporary threats to free speech

And why do you think that? Do you think he wasn't in contempt of court? If the judge says he was, then he was. He is a professional provocateur, and seems to be poorly legally advised. But the lack of fairness relates to the fact that had anyone else committed it, they would not have been jailed. H...

Re: Contemporary threats to free speech

Do you think he has been treated unfairly? I can't be sure, but I think he probably has. And why do you think that? Do you think he wasn't in contempt of court? Where is the conspiracy? If he has been treated unfairly, then people needed to conspire to make that happen. And who do you think it migh...

Re: Contemporary threats to free speech

From what I've read about him, jail would be a good place for him!! Sure, one expects him to be wished harm by those who disagree with his views, but this is an issue of fairness and conspiracy. And his supporters are fearful that he will be conveniently murdered while in jail. Do you think he has ...

Overall, the impression is that the government want him in jail very badly indeed.
That might be the impression Sam Vara has.

Try this blog post pulga. Tommy Robinson And Reporting Restrictions http://zelo-street.blogspot.co.uk/2018/05/tommy-robinson-and-reporting.html Thank you. We don't have reporting restrictions in the United States. Aren't juries sequestered in the U.K.? You mean kept in isolation? I don't think so.

Re: Contemporary threats to free speech

Breach of the peace? Just how big is this story surrounding the arrest of Tommy Robinson? It seems to have ignited something of a backlash from those concerned about their right to speak freely in the U.K.. EDL's Tommy Robinson gets arrested after filming outside court Try this blog post pulga. Tom...

Re: Member Poll on "News, Current Events & Politics" at DW

I appreciate Kim acknowledging that the staff's approach to overseeing such discussion has been "tolerant", but unfortunately in the current political climate, certain members have been unable or unwilling to reciprocate that tolerance, in the sense of allowing opposing views that they disagree wit...
