Re: What exactly is Ekagata. (One pointedness)?

Also, Agama parallels appear to have 0% relevance to the study of Pali Buddhism because Agama are hundreds of years after the Buddha.
That's not so. Agamas and Nikayas - both come from ancient original source. And both have distortions to this or that degree.

Re: Does the ignorance remove later or in the beginning ?

If ignorance is abandoned at the end when attaining arahatship , this means a sotapanna still have ignorant . Thus, the sotapanna will have Wrong View per Sn45.1. Therefore , a sotapanna do not have True Knowledge . Avijja (ignorance) is one thing, and Miccha Ditthi (including Sakkaya-Ditthi) which...

Re: Into The Stream with Sensual Desires...

Thanks but if the feeling has been eliminated could one still choose to indulge in sensual pleasures but without the conditioned momentum that drives one towards sensual pleasures? You mean "craving" (not feeling, because all feelings are there). Well, when there is no craving for sensual pleasures...

Re: Into The Stream with Sensual Desires...

Yes, they still occur, of course. But it's not about identification with them in this situation. It is about strength of craving which arises. So, in a stream-winner craving will be more strong than in once-returner. And in non-returner and arahant such kind of craving is eliminated completely.

Re: Nibbana experienced at mind-sense base... NOT

Which "is" when Contact is not. Therefore there is also no mind base to speak about post cessation of contact, no suffering to speak of post cessation of suffering in other words. In that sense Nibbana[that dimension, monks, where there is neither earth, nor water, nor fire, nor wind...] is not exp...

Re: Cūlapanthaka versus sutta expertise

It was said Cūlapanthaka wasn't able to memorise much . He was dull and not intelligent . But , he does attained Arahantship later . I doubt that commentarial story about Cūlapanthaka is true. There was one sutta in Anguttara where Buddha says that a dull person cannot attain ariyan levels. The who...

Yes, vedana is twofold: mental and bodily.

As for paticcasamuppada - yes, feelings are there in several links.

Re: how do we know what the buddha looked like?

We know that the Buddha was bald.
Also, as seen from the suttas, Buddha didn't differ too much in appearance from other monks; some people couldn't recognize him.

Re: Conceit belongs to which of these (ignorance greed hatred) ?

Could you elaborate ?
Of course. Conceit is based on the very feeling of self, which comes directly from ignorance - wrong understanding and perceiving of "how things really are".

Re: Why sakadagami and anagami disciples not found ?

anagamin is not returning from THAT world to THIS Earthly world in contrast . That world - Rupa Loka. This world - Kama loka. So, yes, the statement is correct. Anagami can't be born in any kamaloka heavens. It is impossible for him. Only rupa-loka. Surely not returning to this world is talking abo...

Re: 109-Year-Old Veteran and His Secrets to Life Will Make You Smile

For people who have very good health one of major, or possibly, the major reason why they live for so long - is the will to live itself. This man seems to have a stong will to live still. My wife told me a story about her grandmother. Don't remember how old was she, but quite old. She also smoked a ...

Re: Paticcasamupadda - namarupa/name-and-form, vinnana/consciousness, and sankharas/fabrications

If I'm reading this right, it's saying that consciousness arises simultaneously with name-and-form, and has no other prior conditions (e.g. volitional formations are not a condition for consciousness here). They still are a cause, because volitional formations are included in name-and-form .) Sankh...

Re: Why sakadagami and anagami disciples not found ?

Why is it called Once Returner is because s/he needs to return to this world 1 more time ! And Not reborn in deva world ! As far as I understand, by "world" all kamaloka is meant. Wiki also says that. Non-returner doesn't return to kamaloka, not only to human world. By the way, there is a special s...

MN 120: why are bhikkhus aspiring for the household life?
I think the majority of all asian monks (most of whom ordain temporarily) are aspiring for the [good future] household life .) So, nothing strange in the sutta.
