Re: Finding time in my hectic life!

You're so right, its so easy to get caught up and taken away by the stresses and strains of everyday life, it really is back to basics, taking in the things that we take for granted. I shall try and be more observant!

Thank you so much for your opinions.

Re: Tattoos, help or hindrance?

I remember we had a discussion on tattoo's a while ago, and as it is not a problem even if the Sangha are allowed tattoos, whatever they be, related or not, they are not a problem. I can see the help that 'reminder' tattoo's can give, for instance if you are getting angry, a buddha reminder on you a...

Re: Middle ground.

My aim would not to promote the different schools as such,as i definitely do not know nearly enough about any school to do that, just to grab some more attention towards buddhism in general then let people decide what way, school they want to follow by giving them links, like to this and Dharma whe...

Re: Teaching Kids

My six year old boy is fascinated when he see's me meditating sometimes and having conversations with my wife on Buddhist related topics. So i have told him the basics of Kamma, in the aspect that if they are rude it will not only hurt others feelings, but make them feel bad for hurting them too, a...

Re: Middle ground.

To be honest, until i was sue of what "nonattachment" meant, i was not sure whether i was definately of the Theravada way, but i am now sure ! Thats good to know, i am hoping to make people more aware of buddhism, in all of its traditions / schools, using Facebook. I was thinking of using a n...

Re: "dissattachment" is and what it entails...

Thanks Ben, that has helped alot,

So the dissattachment, is the removal of needing and clinging, to realise the cycle of life where everything is inpermanent, and to accept that???
Is that right?

"dissattachment" is and what it entails...

With regards to Dissattachment, what does it actually mean? My conception of it i believe is wrong, and the only thing holding me back from committing to Theravada fully as my path. Everything else seems to work and sit well with me but this word Dissattachment and disspassion, as a family man, con...

Middle ground.

I'm not that clued up on this, hence asking.
Is it possible for a lay follower to support both Theravada and Mahayana?
Would it be frowned upon by either of the traditions?
