Do they sell stone Naga eggs with different colored glass "gems" inside so you can break the egg and know your lucky lotto numbers?

Re: What is wrong with the three lives model of DO?

Well I guess you'd have to answer what it is that transmigrates from one life to the next and see if that notion jibes with the Buddha's teaching of annata. If you find that answer, please let us all know and we can put this debate to rest once and for all. I don't understand that objection. Nothin...

I prefer the US to China and Russia, for obvious reasons, What are the obvious reasons for preferring the US to China and Russia? Well, the three countries are police and corporatist states, which is to say they are fascist regimes. The difference is in the degree of authoritarianism. In China you ...

Re: Controlling the long breath?

Thanks for all the great replies. In the past I've always ended up putting anapanasati aside in favor satipathana as I found I've had trouble losing the breath on and off the cushion. I have also noticed that subtly, I would control the breathing a bit every time I watched it. Sort like "there ...

This just seems different than anything other approach I have come across where we are not really to control the breath but observe the v...

Nothing wrong with enjoying a delicious distraction as a respite from the world. And your experiment provided you with a valuable learning moment, and an opportunity to graphically understand an important point from the Dhamma. You should be able to enjoy the tea without becoming "attached&quo...

Thanks for your replies. I wrote a song recently, I hope you don't mind if I share the lyrics with you? SWANS IN THE SNOW Verse 1 Taking in the cold day by order of the solitary way A mind consumed with all that I know gives way to Swans in the snow Verse 2 A tired river lies cold This day has quic...

Re: Craving while being mindful?

Well, this is interesting. I think I would say no. One can only be fully mindful when the five hindrances are not active. This means there is also no craving (or at least no sensual craving) because this is one of the hindrances. here is the case where a monk remains focused on the body in & of...

Craving while being mindful?

Can craving arise while being completely mindful? Or at the moment craving arises, is that a signal that mindfulness has stopped and mental proliferation or fabrication has started?

Thanks
