Re: bad karma

Mind is not nibbana Its the same trap as mahayana often falls for conscious as nibbana. Bc they think conscious is pure, but its not nibbana. I have not encountered any Mahayana sutta proclaiming consciousness as nibbana. If some people read Mahayana suttas and come to conclusion based on inappropr...

Re: Sanna and Vijnana

I think its just how we call them. The reality is one thing and how we call them is another matter. For example, we may discriminate that conscious is knowing and sanna is recognition, they are two different things. But as implied from the quote above, we can call them different, e.g we can say reco...

Nibbana can not be found anywhere. Otoh, nibbana can be described as the extinguished of greed hate ignorance. Its official and easier to keep it that way.

Re: Sanna and Vijnana

So basically nobody knows So basically someone knows the art of rising the death, aka a necromancer. But by rising the death he may summon a great soul to answer his question. Vinnana and sanna always go together. Vinnana is conscious, it only function is to know. Sanna is recognition, its function...

Re: What is wrong with the three lives model of DO?

Why would this model be challenged? Oh you aint seen nothing yet. In a not so distant future, every single tenet of the Buddha Dhamma will be challenged, 3 marks, 4NT, 8NFP, 12DO, 37 aids, etc. everything single thing until the teaching will be totally completely wiped out, by enemies near and far,...

Re: "Nibbana" and "the end of perception and feelings"

Zom, my opinion So for the one who is in cease of perception and feeling (cpf), does his mind stream stop? Afaik, the mind stream does not stop in cpf, or else when he exists the state, the cause and effect chain is broken, bc the state after cpf arises from nothing. That is the difference from true...

Re: "Nibbana" and "the end of perception and feelings"

I dont want to enter discussion but still just want to say something lol. Nibbana is unconditioned, so it is always there. OTOH, nibbana is not in the past, not in the present, not in the future. One can not enter nibbana but realize nibbana. Use common language to understand nibbana is similar to u...

Technically right view is not a no view.
Right view is a view but it is called right because it benefits to the goal.

Re: Suicide kamma

The kamma for suicide is heavy with never ending suffering. Can you back this up with canonical references? He said from various religions teachings, so it may came from Christianity. I heard that Christianity said suicide will be punishment in hell, this is wisdom from a 6000 years old jealous god...

Re: Suicide kamma

What makes you want to commit suicide is often kamma of the past. So its better to bear it to pay off the debt, and to learn how to cope with the situation. Suffering is the door of wisdom. The reason of suicide is one of the worst suffering, so its one of the best teacher to teach you the nature of...

Re: About Buddhist hell . .

Dream is imagination from perception. It can be affected from other beings, especially being in the spiritual realm, aka dead, deva... all the gods are just dead ppl from the past. They lack the body to communicate physically so they must use perception to communicate. Ppl with ability can communica...

Re: One more rebirth before becoming a non-returner

You should consider this, maybe the sotapana question is only in the range of knowledge of a samma sam Buddha to know for sure. Without him, maybe no one can give a sure answer. And maybe if you ask him the Buddha will not answer bc it is out of scope of usefulness for ppl. IIRC, the Buddha even sai...

Re: Is expanded ego better than the contracted ego?

Another way to look at it: it is not ego, but love vs greed. Many of your situation is the combination of these two. Love, metta, is when you doing something benefit someone while greed is doing something not benefit, to yourself and others. Most ppl centered in themselves, but still harming themsel...

Re: Is it a schism making action?

Kinda my OCD induced skeptism. You should treat your OCD before finding a way to fix Buddhism. Many Mahayana monks are good persons and well knowledge. But even them, knowing their tradition is wrong, still practice it, for the sake of ppl. Because the tradition is so much integrated in ppl mind, i...
