Re: Do you have compassion for Nikolas Cruz?

Apparently this person was a racist xenophobic homophobic if trump wants to scapegoat this on people suffering from a mental illness he should shut his mouth and denounce nazis.

Re: why the reluctance??!

There is no problem with putting flyers up around town or posting events in the newspaper to come to a Buddhist group or to see a Dhamma teacher.

Re: why the reluctance??!

invite a monk or Dhamma teacher to come talk at a Unitarian Universalist church. Put up flyers around town for it every month and start a sitting group. This is how the Dhamma is spread.

Re: Can monks ever eat what they want?

For monks food is not meant for pleasure or beautification but for the development of the holy life. Why be a monk if you are still chasing after certain delicious foods.

Re: Gautama a.k.a. Buddha abandoning his wife and child - was it wrong?

Not selfish of the siddartha to try to seek the end of suffering for himself leaving his wife and children, he saw suffering for the first time in his whole life seeing the divine messengers of a sick man dying man etc.. his quest to end suffering may have never succeeded it was a dart of intense co...

Re: Dukkha

I'm not saying I'm not affected by good and bad or neutral experiences but when doing vipassana you let go of good and bad love and hate and just witness the never ending flux of phenomena this diminishes your greed hate/aversion and delusion because you see there is nothing to want, hate or to conf...

That was enlightening thanks, but not the sutta I'm looking for the one I can't find is shorter and pretty much just says by doing good bodily verbal and mental acts unskillful qualities decline. Thanks for looking for me.

Re: Dukkha

If things are impermanent they are not self, so it doesn't matter if everything is Dukkha because things are Dukkha and also Annica how can something that doesn't stop affect my peace of mind. I think that was the insight. Just coming back to the meditation object will clear ideas up.
