Re: Slandering buddha

We both agree Buddhas teaching on kamma vipaka should be known and corrected and we shouldn't argue or feel angry at others who misrepresent the Dhamma. My point of this thread is to stop arguing and correct people before they post by putting kamma vipaka as a Theravadan Buddhist teaching in the tos...

Re: Slandering buddha

All Buddhists can agree on mundane right view that's all I'm saying. I'm not saying buddhists can agree on other things like abhidhammic authenticity or whatever again I'm just talking about mundane right view. I posted this topic because i don't want to argue anymore on the internet. I'm done tryin...

Slandering buddha

Dear moderators, after reading the superstition thread, I think we should have a policy in the forum rules guideline that inhibits people from putting false words in shakyamuni Buddhas mouth. Coming up with theories that say "Buddha taught about ghosts because he had to teach to the audience". Thing...

Re: Love in sutta or commantaries?

Dipa Ma the life and legacy of a Buddhist master. Awareness meditation and compassion meditation should not be looked on as being seperate when you are doing one you are doing the other. Paraphrased.

Re: Love in sutta or commantaries?

My point about kamma being a kind of love is that it encourages us to do good and avoid evil. It always supports us when we do good things buddha called the law of kamma the light of the world. So metaphysically speaking the heart of the universe is good willed in believing that we receive happy exp...

Re: Love in sutta or commantaries?

The law of kamma vipaka is a law of nature like gravity. When you act from a place of goodwill which is unconditional love, compassion or renunciation, there is a good fortune or experiential inheritance in the form of human life, beauty, longevity heaven and similar positive things and also the bli...

Re: Can a wholesale dismissal of Non-Theravada traditions result in Ariyupavadantaraya

The mindfulness generated from zen cleared up my mind and I have less negative thoughts today from last night. So shikantaza is when you sit with correct posture, breathe from the belly, open your eyes, have a soft gaze at a 45 degree angle downwards and let thoughts pass. It's nothing more than bei...

Re: Can a wholesale dismissal of Non-Theravada traditions result in Ariyupavadantaraya

Zen practice allows you to let go of defilements cultivate huuuuuge amounts of sincere compassion and leads to insights I did some shikantaza last night and had an insight into the nature of thought which was thoughts are just nothing but conventional signs pointing to reality they are not realities...

Re: Racism in Theravada?

Defining ones status by birth is wrong view according to Buddha. What made Buddha such a radical of his time was that he said it is actions which make one a Brahmin or noble one not by birth lineage.

Re: Why Westerners can't extend loving kindness to themselves?

Some westerners carry self hatred. The Dalai Lama was asked about the topic of self hatred and he didn't know what it was because he couldn't understand why someone would hate themselves. Westerners are taught to be independent and have a strong out going personality if you have poor social skills w...
