Lord budda had visited Sri lanka a few times which are recorded. Therefore it is evident that lord Budda had crossed the sea.
Could you please say where these visits are recorded, to help people gauge the reliability of the claim?

Re: Meditation for beginners - Anicca

Re: Why Are There So Many Black Buddhists?

Would posters please note that although there might be interesting and useful discussions to be had around the issue of dhamma propagation within specified groups, discussions here should steer clear of politicised claims about whether particular countries or groups are racist. Such questions, impor...

Re: Can I become Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King or Gandhi?

https://dhammawheel.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=32021 If that is the case, probably the whole thread should be moved to the other (Greenies) website or even to the Mahayana site. No, I don't think so. It's perfectly possible to answer SarathW's original question without getting polemical or even partis...

Re: Did the Buddha ever see the sea?

The Ganges Valley where the Buddha lived is thousands of miles from the coast. Yet there are suttas where the Buddha talked about the oceans and its creatures. There are also suttas where he spoke of the cosmos. I'm wondering if his knowledge of the former was thru heresay from others or personal s...

Re: Pali Beginner

Hi Padipa, without seeing some printed examples, it's difficult to get a sense of the problem. But why not look at some other Pali dictionaries to see if there is one which uses the same forms as your book by Gair and Karunatillake? http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/pali/ http://lirs.ru/lib/dict...

Re: The teachings of Ven. Waharaka Abhayaratanalankara Thero

His whole post is worth reading (not least because my selection of the "anicca" bit suggests that the "baloney" is based on that alone, which is not the case) and I would also urge you to read the posts by Bhikkhu Pesala as well, before delving any deeper. That may save you a lot of wasted time. Hm...

Many thanks, Bhante. :anjali: That's a very fine documentary which really captures the feel of the place.

That monk drinking water direct from the spring - he's a brave man!
