Important Question : temporary uposatha hall
Hi friends I was tasked upon by my teacher to recite a formula during our Kathina Ceremony to transform our vihara into an Uposatha Hall for a day. I would be glad if anyone can provide me with the original Pali text with english translations as the romanized text I have with me is what I translated...

Re: Questions from the Shameful Bhikkhu
Thanks. I have heard of mahanikaya bhikkhus re-ordaining. I see re-ordination as a ridiculous thing born out of ego anyway.

Re: Questions from the Shameful Bhikkhu
Been receiving envelopes the past few days after Abhidhamma recitations at funerals. Apparently the laity get extremely furious when I refused to accept those envelopes (filled with money). Had a final review with my teacher today. We concluded that it would be demanding to ask the laity to bring th...

Re: Questions from the Shameful Bhikkhu
It appears that the laity in southern thailand do not wish to go through the hassle of buying requisites so they offered money in envelopes instead. This is their primary way of making merit via offering to monks. Needless to say, about 90% of the monks accumulate their wealth so as to have a more l...

Re: Questions from the Shameful Bhikkhu
Thanks Bhante
I will read your booklets. I do see accepting money as a very serious offence too because we took it as the 10th precept during the ordination ceremony. Thanks

Re: Questions from the Shameful Bhikkhu
Thanks my dear friends for the loving moral support and advices. Yes I totally agree that the only difference between a laity and monk is that the former does not don a robe and has slightly lesser time to practise if they have a job. The Dhamma is for the benefit of everyone and there are monks who...

Re: Questions from the Shameful Bhikkhu
Thanks for the replies dear friends. My abbot has nothing against BB since it's used as a tool. Regarding the cash donations, I have decided to tell the laity that monks are not allowed to accept cash offerings, if they wish to, they can place it into the donation box. I will look through the Ordina...

Re: Fifth precept
Greetings, the 5th precept is the triumph card of the all 5-precepts, As it is to prevent one from heedlessness. Breaking the 5th precept will result in a downfall and breaking of the other 4 precepts due to the lack of mindfulness. The popular question is "can I just have a glass/bottle on spe...

Questions from the Shameful Bhikkhu
Greetings Dhammafarers, I spent about 30 minutes typing a lot of things just to have my power circuit cut off. So I'm just going to sum everything up which was deleted. I am a Singaporean who ordained in Southern Thailand. In southern thailand, accepting money is deemed appropriate. I am strongly ag...

Re: Greetings all - Bhikku from Thailand / Singapore
Thanks for all the wishes. I apologise for this late reply because I've been spending time on my books and mind. Anyway my teacher did not allow me to spend my vassa elsewhere. All is going well for me here. May all of you and your families be well.

Greetings all - Bhikku from Thailand / Singapore
Good day to everyone in this forum. First and foremost, I am a Singaporean who got my higher ordination in Thailand 3 months ago, and am currently residing in Songkhla. Due to a huge gap in communication, I am slower than the rest of the monks in every aspect except for meditation. My teacher has be...
