A paritta sutta that would probably be chanted in your situation would be the Atanatiya sutta. Here is an English translation... https://suttacentral.net/dn32/en/sujato It's long and normally chanted in Pali. If you can go to a Sri Lankan vihara/monastery the monks would be able to chant it for you....

Is this regular reading 1) mental, 2) soft whisper, 3) out loud or any one of them? Reading out loud, even in a soft whisper is a great way to calm and concentrate the mind, absolutely. I only started investigating it recently. It doesn't seem to have many active Buddhist groups.

Anyone choosing the last answer, it's basically a social network for books and readers. It's owned by Amazon, but it presents itself as being a separate thing. 40 million users.
