Re: Entheogens and Buddhism

I think you hit the nail on the head. The key is really having a relationship with your health care providers. The united states has a weird insurance and drug industry which distorts the patient doctor relationship. Its too easy just to throw tranquilizers at a problem quickly and get reimbursed by...

Re: Entheogens and Buddhism

Unfortunately psychotherapy and psychiatry are heavily embedded in the pharmaceutical industry and this makes me suspect to many of the treatments they offer. My personal experiences with psychiatric medications is that many were not helpful to me. There is a certain tendency when using any drug eit...

Re: Entheogens and Buddhism

I am frequently told my views are not buddhist so my words may mean little. I never used LSD so, I cannot particularly say what the effects are like. I have tried several other entheogens, mushrooms, and found them to be an interesting experience. They are supposed to be a more subtle experience. I ...

Re: Urban homestead

I hope that this is the right place to post this, but I came upon an interesting project named the urban homestead: Surrounded by urban sprawl and just a short distance from a freeway, the Urban Homestead project is a family operated and highly productive city farm. It is also a successful, real-li...

Re: smoking (cough, cough)

Have you tried N acetyl cysteine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N-acetyl_cysteine" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)? Its a very cheap antioxidant you can get in most health/wellness stores It is being used in some promising clinical studies on a variety of physical and mental ...

Re: Karma

the tendency seems to be to blame the victims. to me, talking about a past life is no different than talking about a fairy tale. to use it as justification for inaction when others are in pain or when you could help them, seems counterproductive. humans find their greatest fulfillment when helping e...

Re: karmic cause of schizophrenia

Silentone, your posts are a bit verbose, and you may not be aware of it, but this reduces people's ability and willingness to read them. I can't, to be honest. Could you sum up your point a bit more? Like: I am for Cannabis, because my COD goes away. and I want to convince you that in this case it ...

His grades are now MUCH higher thanks to the fact that he saw people licensed to help him overcome this disability. I'm sure that if he had a drug test and they saw the weed, t hey would have blamed his poor behavior and his failures on the drug . I doubt they would have looked much further into th...

Re: karmic cause of schizophrenia

I feel if we are all honest, then this discussion will have a very positive outcome.

Who knows, from either side of the debate, where the words we have spoken will lead us all in the future?

I feel positive about this :namaste:

Re: karmic cause of schizophrenia

Peter, I understand where you are coming from. I understand that you want to help people. I applaud that effort :) From my perspective : The problem with many of these disorders, it is difficult in the early years of research to flush out differences in causation and correlation. Many people with ve...

Re: karmic cause of schizophrenia

No ones mind is made clearer by cannabis or alcohol. At best one might experience some temporary relief from the kind of pressure of thought, heightened affect, and hypervigilence that is part of the predisposing factors that manifest as OCD....but there are other ways to achieve this that do not b...
