Truth beyond all doubt

What can we all agree on are some truths? Truths that are beyond all doubt or questioning. Truths that no one in the whole entire world would disagree with. I have 2 for sure. The Truth of Impermanence The Truth that there is Suffering If anyone disagree with me, let them say so here and now If anyo...

Re: Bringing upon the change

NIchole, I have some advice that I would like to share with you. # 1 be patient, things will come to you when you least expect them. # 2 continue to read, and study, and contemplate, and meditate. #3 if you don't have time for a "formal" meditation, then meditate whenever you can.....for example, yo...

Re: Buddha is fake

:stirthepot: WOW....I am amazed at the attacks on fabianfred . I didn't see anything wrong with the story, in fact I think it had a message that we could all learn from. You can attack me for supporting fabianfred if you want, and it wont bother me one bit. And what difference does it make if fabian...

Re: Where to start?!

May I suggest reading the book, "What The Buddha Taught" by Walpola Rahula.
I think it is a great place to start and has gotten very good reviews, and it is easy to read and understand.

Is Buddhism defeatist or escapist?

I have been thinking about this the last few days, and I would like to hear the views of other forum members. The Buddha, when confronted with seeing an old person, a diseased person, and a dead body, began looking for a way to escape from suffering. What The Buddha came up with for an answer was to...

Yes, Thank you Bhikkhu Pesala...for the links.

Due to health and geographical limitations I am unable to go to any Vipassanā retreats, so these links are the next best thing.

Re: How to win a woman?

TO: Luke Thank you for your comments. TO: Other Forum Members: Ask yourself, How would The Buddha have responded to such a question as "How to win a woman" ? TO: Individual...who suggested I may be old and dead inside May I offer this: Metta Sutta: This is what should be done by one who is skilled i...

Re: How to win a woman?

Dear Mr. Individual..... I see from your profile that you are 26 years old. Your youthful hormones have you seeking something in a place where you wont find it. Buddha himself was once married, and he left his wife and child , to seek enlightenment and freedom from suffering. My opinion.......(for w...

Song of impermanence

The rock band Kansas had a hit with the song "Dust in the Wind" I think it sums up very well the idea of impermanence that The Buddha spoke of. Here is a link to the web page of the band Kansas where there is a Youtube Video of the song: http://www.kansasband.com/2010/dust-in-the-wind.html I think y...
