Are you looking for a Theravada statue?
Thank you. No, I was just curious aboout these ones (and I am a member of this forum and not Dharma Wheel). But if you know any commercially used Theravada statues the links are all welcome. :)

Pali Term: pāṇātipāta

Hi, Everyone, This phrase is usually translated as 'harming/killing living beings', pāṇin interpreted as 'living being'. My question is if it can refer to a more specific group of 'living beings' for the word itself means (or could mean some time ago) 'breathing entity'. Is there any text (sutta, vi...

Re: Brahm's Basic Method of Meditation

I have been also wondering why Ajahn Brahm teaches awareness of the present moment before awareness of the breath, while awareness of the present moment seems to be the goal of awareness of the breath. My guess is, that it is a practical tool to make the meditator used to all the wanderings of the m...

Re: Bhikkhuni Ordination performed - by Ajahn Brahmavamso

Has been useful (up to now), finding many people (mostly through the FaceBook page) who think of theravada (monastic and lay), social issues (getting involved or not), Aj Brahm etc. simillarly to how I do. A good friend is not only the half of holy life... :)

Re: The universe is without a refuge, without a Supreme God.

I came accross this remark "May I draw your attention to the Sudatta sutta (SN 10.8) in which Buddha teaches the young Anathapindada (or Anathapindika) on creation and creator. Here he’s more than specific: no Creator, no Creation. The Sudatta sutta is part of the Small Vehicle Pali, Agama, and Kanj...

Thanks a lot, Retro!

The text comes from a sutta, so the best would be an early Buddhist context.

Re: Dhammika Sutta - Uposatha and other special days

Thank you for your extremely fast reply. :woohoo: The precepts themselves are in the sutta as well. My question is more about the celebration of these days. What does it mean the 14th, 15th and 8th. The day before and/or after the half moon & full moon nights? What about this "half month"? Is it not...

Dhammika Sutta - Uposatha and other special days

Dear Dhamma Wheel Readers/Writers, There is a sentence in the Snp 2.14 Dhammika Sutta ( http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/kn/snp/snp.2.14.irel.html ) which puzzles me. Could you please explain what these special days are (e.g. what the difference is between "uposatha" and the "holiday of the h...
