Re: Bannon tells all in new book about Trump

Former Trump political strategist Steve Bannon apologized Sunday for unflattering comments attributed to him in the recently released Trump White House tell-all “Fire and Fury,” saying he “regrets” his delayed response and that he continues to support the president. Bannon expresses 'regret' for co...

Re: Trump. And why I hate him.

On the campaign trail, President Trump famously asked African Americans: “What do you have to lose?” by voting for him. He promised his economic agenda would lead to more jobs and higher wages for everyone.

Re: Bannon tells all in new book about Trump

This appears to be a fairly balanced article from Politico:

Journalists scrutinize Michael Wolff's credibility

With the economy doing well and with more pressing problems facing the country, President Trump ought to just weather the storm with as much constraint as he can muster. It'll pass.

Re: Global Warming: Recent Data

That would be this - https://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/Michael_Savage - Michael Savage, Pulga? I concede that I don't really listen much to Dr. Savage's radio broadcast. I believe this article probably reflects more accurately his concern for the environment. Michael Savage warns Trump: Don’t t...

Re: Global Warming: Recent Data

This link is liable to irk some people but Michael Savage is concerned about climate change and wildlife preservation, and fortunately he was able to voice these concerns face to face with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago over dinner recently during the holidays. Michael Savage tells about his recent m...

Re: Nāmarūpa - Named Form?

That the Buddha didn't teach that experience was merely nāma, but rather that it was nāmarūpa seems to me to be of some significance. What part does rūpa have in the nature of experience? And has it anything to do with human suffering?

Did Trump stop the McCain & Graham covert war, the same wars they did in Libya & Syria, with their Al Qaeda mates ( Abdelhakim Belhadj )? What are democratically elected US Senators doing visiting war zones & meeting with rebels & terrorists? Lindsey Graham to attend invite-only Bilderberg meeting ...

Re: Trump. And why I hate him.

Have there been less drone strikes under Trump, less civilian casualties in war zones? While it is true that civilian casualties did dramatically increase once President Trump gave the U.S. military free reign to snuff out ISIS in Syria and Iraq, in the long run it probably saved lives and reduced ...

Should neo nazis be allowed to give speeches at colleges in your opinion? Re: Trump. And why I hate him.

I have my doubts whether the tax cuts are going to succeed. I have no doubt at all. They will not do what they are ostensibly designed to do, i.e. "stimulate the economy" and make everyone richer. Forty years of neoliberalism have shown that "trickle-down" economics is, in a word, bullshit. I still...

Re: In the Buddha-dhamma, how should "noumena" be regarded?

The Ven. Ariyavamsa has written on this subject in his essay Phassa : cakkhuñca paṭicca rūpe ca uppajjati cakkhuviññāṇaṃ. tiṇṇaṃ saṅgati phasso. phassapaccayā vedanā. In dependence on the eye and forms, eye-consciousness arises. The meeting of the three is contact. With contact as condition, feeling...

Re: Trump. And why I hate him.

In all fairness to Trump, the tax proposal he spoke of last month isn't the same as that which was signed into law. The GOP lowered the highest bracket from 39.6 to 37% during negotiations in order to garner the votes needed to pass the bill. Also the report from CBS News severely lacks context. The...

Yet... venerable Dhammanando drew our attention to this sutta, which tells us that dhatus are indeed dhammas.
It seems to me that "ime dhammā" in the text Ven. Dhammanando provided could be understood as "these teachings", rather than "these phenomena".

Re: I got a tax cut! What will I do with it?

Because of robotics and automation it wouldn't bring back all the jobs that many hope for, but with the corporate tax rate now at 21% manufacturing on a broad scale might just make a comeback in the U.S.. The key is to not only entice domestic companies to invest in the U.S., but foreign ones as wel...

Re: I got a tax cut! What will I do with it?

Several companies announced new investments... That is reassuring news. Originally an import tax was proposed to encourage corporations to invest in the U.S. once they repatriated their money from abroad. But that idea was shelved, at least for now. It seems to me that a lot of the money that is go...

I'm by no means rich, but I'm disgusted that if this tax bill passes and the standard deduction is doubled I'm going to get a sizeable increase in my tax refund.

Whatever supports something puts it in its place if we are speaking about essential support. If one takes away some essential support, then whatever is essentially supported becomes amorphous. The support that is meant here is not different from an act of binding, such as when the law binds one to ...
