The best solution to our power needs, of course, is demand reduction.
I fully concur with you on that point.

Re: Yesterday Trump Called Latinos "Animals"

Democrats voted against it, because I don't really think they want the problem solved. Had the DACA dilemma been resolved it would have been a huge political win for the President, something seemingly intolerable to the Democrats these days. Hopefully their cynicism didn't go unnoticed to many of t...

Re: Yesterday Trump Called Latinos "Animals"

Either its legal, or it isn't. If it isn't, then apply the law. If it isn't, but we want it to be, change the law. The sheer size of the problem and the proposed solutions are daunting. In 1986 an amnesty was signed into law by Ronald Reagan, giving two to three million illegal immigrants citizensh...

Re: Yesterday Trump Called Latinos "Animals"

I don't know how much of it is from President Trump and how much of it is from Jeff Sessions who seems to have a zeal against all illegal immigration, but the Trump administration does seem to be too hard on undocumented immigrants these days. Trump the candidate vowed that he would target only viol...

Re: DOJ inspector general completes long-awaited review of Hillary Clinton probe

While the findings of Inspector General Horowitz relating to the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation is of great importance, of even greater importance in my opinion is his current investigation into surveillance abuses within the DOJ and the FBI during the Obama administration. I’m not sure when t...

Re: Has Trump done anything against PC culture since he won the presidency, or was it just rhetoric ?

The reality is below: The expected April surplus, meanwhile, isn’t keeping the U.S. from running a wider budget deficit for the fiscal year to date. For the first seven months of the budget year, the shortfall totals $382 billion, or $37 billion more than the same period a year ago, CBO estimates. ...

Re: Is MN 140 a fake sutta?

It appears Venerable Ñanavira would have agreed there is an issue here. One possible explanation (to overcome the fake impression) is the Buddha was speaking to a person (Pukkusati) that did not know the Buddhist teachings; thus the Buddha spoke in the conventional everyday language of his Indian s...

Re: Is MN 140 a fake sutta?

While I think the translation of " termination of life " for " jīvitapariyādānā " is OK, how can Nibbana occur " paraṃ maraṇā " as described in MN 140? Any opinions? It's a variant reading that seems to have been preferred by the Burmese, at least it's in the Chattha Sangayana edition of th...

Hopefully Mattis still has Trump's ear in how to deal with this situation. The President's tweet is promising.

Re: POTUS 2017

Granted that campaign violations are crimes, they happen all the time. I think the DOJ is being too aggressive in its investigation of Cohen, possibly with the intention of baiting Trump to fire Mueller.

yeah right!! your Mr. World Peace just appointed John Bolton in charge a national security. With the upcoming talks with Kim Jong-un it's a very shrewd move on Trump's part. The President likes a diversity of opinions when dealing with problems, so I don't think that he's suddenly become hawkish. M...

Re: POTUS 2017

Madame Albright shares Hillary Clinton's penchant for aggressive U.S. foreign policy. “If we have to use force, it is because we are America! We are the indispensable nation. We stand tall, and we see further into the future.” Trump on the other hand seems more of a pragmatist, preferring dialogue a...

The Real Collusion Story (a long article, but excellent)
Agreed. I printed it out and gave it a close read. I look forward to the day when the major players in the smear face justice. They've done a lot of harm to the nation.
