Re: Trying to gain more insight...

Dear TessaHenley, Mana raised good an proper words, I guess. Maybe something in addition that might be useful: Practice for the Householder (from "A Still forest pool") You have often asked about the path of the householder. Household life is both hard and easy hard to do, easy to understa...

Re: something to be learned by heart and master

Anyone have heard about this sutta? Most Buddhist now a day are listening to their Ajahns who have so various opinion about dhamma, don't study much Buddha's words. Thank you leela001, for this wonderful sutta. What do you think, will it help those who don't understand? What do you think can be done...

Re: Buddhist layman confession and re-taking of precepts

Hanzze Are you talking in an enviroment where the customs of address of one place in the world is appropriate? You do not need to address me in any way other than by name, particularly a way outside the norm of this environment, it is inappropriate. There is what is given, and what you insert. Sorr...

Re: Are we responsible for the actions of others?

Take the animal rights activists who try to stop the whale hunters from killing whales. What they are doing is saving lives. This is a virtuous act, but does that make everyone who is not out there saving the whales immoral? I think not. Dear Maarten, have you seen the movie The Cove . This is a ve...

Re: Your beliefs and or knowlege creates karma

Maybe there are people who choose evil and are enlightened at the same time. It seems as if knowledge would be out of reach for evil people. I disagree. There are evil doctors out there. And there are very good people who weren't capable of finishing primary school. Dear Erwin, that does not realy ...

Re: Ud 4.5 Nāga Sutta — The Bull Elephant

Just saw this sutta, and it might be useful (a interessting confersation with Mara on this topic): form The Brahma Invitation ... "When this was said, I told Mara the Evil One, 'I know you, Evil One. Don't assume, "He doesn't know me." You are Mara, Evil One. And it's not sympathetic ...

Re: Isnt it a Buddhist belief that so called Demons exist?

No need to believe anything, but a little faith in ahead is somehow secure also in developing right view. Only your own experiance will make an end of doubt at least. So even if I would tell you it would not make sence. Better to relay on what the Buddha taught, that is much more secure. If that is...

Re: Compassion Vs real Practice

I have this question about compassion. What if you have old parent to look after who is depend on you to do things. Because you want to look him after you cannot ordain or practice a lot of meditation. So I see two things 1) You have compassion and want to look after 2) Because of 1, your spiritual...

Re: Ud 4.5 Nāga Sutta — The Bull Elephant

It was one of the first suttas I ever read. I had two thoughts "Wohh... if such things are pubished, it must be that there are many who understand the Buddhas teaching as this is hard to take" and "Wohh... there will be not many who understand this", it need some time for me to c...

Re: How do you note impermanence, dissatisfaction, and non-self?

There is a second pair Mal. On one hand there is the pair of Saddha (faith, let me call it guessing here) and Panna (Wisdom, let me call it experiances here), which like talk needs to be balanced or change constantly (on wich leg one might be actually). Mindfulness is the operator or the judger who ...

Re: Your beliefs and or knowlege creates karma

If you have freed yourself and weren't a total slave to karma any more wouldn't it be possible to do evil but not suffer the consequences? Thanks Dear Ervin, Technical yes, but why would one like to do it? One who is free from suffering has no desire to do anything. No desire no karma, I guess that...

You are right Mike, it is nothing but pretentious to make an suggestion without being invited to do, without being asked for it. My mistake.

Re: In reagard of invitations and taking what is not given

Mike, just take the text, put personal things aside and try to think about it. I don't talk about people you tust and it's not about staying on topic, and it also has nothing to do with any person her. It's simply an suggestion and vision to get the usuals in direction Dhamma-Vinaya and not the Dham...
