Re: New book by Y. Karunadasa

Dear Mike, I couldn't find your preview (where is it?), but I identified the page by the reference: it's page 55, chapter 5 "The Analysis of Mind". You are correct: it's MN 44. Hi, The preview link is at the bottom of this page: https://www.wisdompubs.org/book/early-buddhist-teachings and Amazon al...

Re: Help with R. Gethin's article on Abhidhamma/Abhidharma

The whole article by Gethin is around 30 pp. long. (It's written on Gethin's uni page). Number of pages 33 https://research-information.bristol.ac.uk/en/publications/abhidharmaabhidhamma-literature(3deef083-8a9f-4f5b-8b02-d60739b91096).html But I simply can't get access to those Oxford Bibliographi...

(Dear All, note, that you can get a cheap paperback by BPS, like I did. Browse Abebooks.com -- mine was just $13) Dear Mike, I couldn't find your preview (where is it?), but I identified the page by the reference: it's page 55, chapter 5 "The Analysis of Mind". You are correct: it's MN 44. Let me ex...

I have the book, it's great. Something like a final say of a distinguished Sri Lankan Abhidhamma scholar on the topic of Early Buddhism ('s teachings).
The book is in fact based on the Pali texts on the topic of early Buddhist teachings.
Why do you say that? Did I say something incorrectly ?

Re: Help with R. Gethin's article on Abhidhamma/Abhidharma

Bhante, thank you.

Take a look at the menu on the left ("In This Article)". There is a comprehensive set of topics , that is not (apparently) available in that preview, that you posted.

The whole article by Gethin is around 30 pp. long. (It's written on Gethin's uni page).

Re: Is MN 140 a fake sutta?

Don't quote Suttacentral The Pali suttas were quoted, with various translations by Buddharakkhita and Bhikkhu Bodhi. What else should be quoted if not the Pali suttas? it It was your words that the passage is not attributed to arahant The passage appears attributed to arahant practise; alth...

Re: The Satipatthana Sutta a forgery?

In fact, satipaṭṭhāna may very well represent the Buddha's personal final teaching, the comprehensive meditation system, which he designated in the end of his teaching life. Thus the minor textual inconsistencies may reflect the great effort of codification and loss prevention of his greatest and l...

Re: Is MN 140 a fake sutta?

Not really, research better. The "research" was done a long long time ago; eradicating "beginner" status. Heedfulness is the path to the Deathless. Heedlessness is the path to death. The heedful die not . The heedless are as if dead already Dhp 21 Bhikkhu, ‘I am’ is a conceiving; ‘I am this’ is a c...

Re: Is MN 140 a fake sutta?

So I see no problem that the building block was used here as in other hundreds times in PC. Hi Sphairos The building block above is generally in relation to the puthujjhana and not the Arahant. MN 140 is about the Arahant & Nibbana-without-residue. Regards :) Not really, research better. Your sente...
