Re: The Next Emperor

Re: A reason for lying

It's all about intention isn't it?......what is the intention in telling minor untruths about unimportant matters?....it is really so diabolical or is it really insignificant compared to (for instance) the defilements going on daily/hourly/conitinually in our own minds? chownah I agree is it really...

Re: A reason for lying

“That’s how little of the ascetic’s nature is left in those who are not ashamed to tell a deliberate lie.” ... Yes, of course, telling a deliberate lie is bad. But it doesn't change the fact that the list of the 6 types of Right Speech (MN 58) about telling the truth is fairly exhaustive (listing 6...

Re: 4TN are not for everyone

(a) It makes no sense to apply everyday common sense to 4TN, (b) just as it makes no sense to apply Newtonian laws to the level of elementary particles at which the laws of quantum physics operate. I have labeled your argument with a & b. It is a false analogy. Your (b) might be correct; perhaps it...

Re: Degree in Buddhist Studies

Quite a few in California: https://tricycle.org/magazine/where-to-study/ UC Berkley has a specific one in Buddhist studies, but they are graduate programs, M.A. or Ph.D. http://buddhiststudies.berkeley.edu/graduate/ University of the West in Los Angeles sounds like a good place and good programs, im...

Re: Spelling

It alreadie exists, purposely misspell something and you'll see a squiggly line underneath it, for example, where I wrote aleadie here. It might just be this browser (firefox), but I think other browsers might have this function too. misspelled words.png And then you can hover mouse over the misspel...
