This is a link to Bhikkhu Sujato's comments on the 32 marks: https://sujato.wordpress.com/2011/04/06/on-the-32-marks/ ....and this is a link to Bhikkhu Analayo's article " The Buddha and Omniscience" in which he mentions the 32 marks. https://www.buddhismuskunde.uni-hamburg.de/pdf/5-personen/analayo...

Re: What is the Dark Night of the Soul in Buddhist terms?

Yes, that author and site as well as self dramatizing teenage love songs is one of sources of this misappropriation, misunderstanding, and misuse of this term. A term that has nothing to do with Buddhism really. A lot to do with Christian mysticism Oh, ok, thanks Caodemarte . I'm not a member of th...

. Regarding equanimity, Bhikkhu Analayo states in his book "Compassion and Emptiness in Early Buddhist Meditation": The circumstance that equanimity forms the culmination point of the four brahmaviharas does not mean that equanimity replaces the others; one who cultivates the brahmaviharas continues...

Re: Eyes Open Or Closed During Practice?

I was taught by a Tibetan Buddhist teacher to keep the eyes open, still, and focused on the space beyond the tip of the nose. I find this much better than having my eyes closed.

Re: Attachment To Physical Comfort

I have become more acutely aware of the fact that my willingness to deal with physical discomfort is very limited. Other than having sinusitis right now, I'm fortunate to have good health in general. That being said, I enjoy my food too much and lead too sedentary a lifestyle, so there is room for ...

Is reconciliation in fact a theme in the suttas — either in relation to death, or in the context of spiritual development in general? If so, where? I’ve asked about this before because of the importance of reconciliation in other traditions, but as of yet haven’t been able to find sources within Th...

I suffer from chronic insomnia. I've been taking a sleeping pill (alphrozam+melatonin) every night, never felt better. Just 0.5mg dosage. Do I continue taking it every night? I always have a mug of green tea before bedtime and it helps me to get a good night's sleep. Maybe you could try it instead ...

I see no wrong in that, as long as the intention is pure!

Although its not a place I've ever wanted to read something myself, I agree that pure intention is all important - that and the lack of a queue of other people waiting to use the toilet!
