Re: Feminism for men

Medical proefssionals don't think humans are self-realized agents and that instead they need to be told what to think, feel, speak, and do, like robots. And women and unborn children pay the price. I'm not a licensed medical professional, but as mentioned earlier, have been a medical writer and res...

Re: Feminism for men

I tend to agree with Binocular, in that women/girls are unhealthily sexualised from any early age; particularly in the government education systems. What I personally think is an absolute non-sense is believing having a secondary school teacher & complementary therapist qualification would make a p...

Re: Feminism for men

In Western culture, women are primed from early on to believe that it is necessary and acceptable to risk health and life for sex, No they're not. What kind of bs is this? chownah Well said chownah. However I 'm bowing out of this topic for the second time because I'm busy doing other things and ge...

Re: Feminism for men

In Western culture, women are primed from early on to believe that it is necessary and acceptable to risk health and life for sex, and that if they have a problem with that, then there is something mentally wrong with them (and they should seek treatment). Women are taught to believe that sex is wo...

As far as finding a female teacher goes, check around for Theravada nuns who give talks and advice
This is precisely what I did.
Feel free to pm me if you want to continue chatting later, binocular.

Must go now. :hello:

Re: Feminism for men

Unless you both have access to psychic powers and phenomena and can scan the whole world with your supernormal vision, I am not sure how you are able to come to this conclusion - except maybe in the two different countries in which you both live. Its also likely that if women are meditating quietly...

Re: Feminism for men

As the Buddha taught, there are many empty huts & many foots of trees but I don't notice women sitting under the many shady trees attaining Nibbana bliss. Agreed! Which I find very disconcerting. Unless you both have access to psychic powers and phenomena and can scan the whole world with your supe...

Re: Feminism for men

I am not sure what the correlation is between the worldly hopes in the OP with a sutta about Nibbana? As the Buddha taught, there are many empty huts & many foots of trees but I don't notice women sitting under the many shady trees attaining Nibbana bliss. Sorry. But I doubt making impressionable w...

Re: Feminism for men

I am deeply concerned about the various issues and struggles that women and girls face on a daily basis and I want them to achieve emancipation and equality and equity. As a woman myself, I'd like to thank you for your kind thoughts, Stiphan. This is one of the many suttas I find inspirational : So...

Re: Feminism for men

Your point of view comes from a man, so of course it cannot accurately describe the actual lived experience of women. My experience as a woman was completely different from what you describe, and mine may be different from that of other women. However, despite the differences, men and women have a ...

Hi Andrew,

I think according to the mythology about such things, "Maitreya" is probably in the "Tushita heaven" at the moment.

Kind regards,

Re: Does anyone know about 'e-paper e-readers'? Recommendations would be appreciated

my eyes are still having problems, and the light from the computer screen doesn't do them any good. Have you tried an anti-glare screen and/or a coloured overlay, eg blue? I had problems with excessive screen brightness on my new laptop, so I put an anti -glare screen over it and also a sheet of cl...

Re: Living as Buddhists in an age of 'Information Overload'

Why keep quoting lamas then ? Because the importance of the quote matters as much as the content within that quote and not the identity of the individual within the limits of what is being discussed. I have seen people quote from those who not part of any school of Buddhism yet the value is meant t...
