Re: Muscular Christianity

. Thanks for posting an excerpt from Soma Sutta, Nicolas, its one of my favourites. Here it is in full: "At Savatthi. Then, in the morning, the bhikkhuni Soma dressed and, taking bowl and robe, entered Savatthi for alms. When she had walked for alms in Savatthi and had returned from her alms round, ...

So are women expected to be "manly" as well?

Is their liberation on the path of any importance at all in this "muscular" man's world?...or are we just meant for cooking and cleaning, putting the bins out, and having children?

Why caterpillars are yucky?
They become butterflies.
They help us to give materials to produce cloths by sacrificing their life.
Thank you so much for your kind post, SarathW.

Re: How should a Buddhist dress?

Slip-on shoes are also handy, as shoes are removed when entering all buildings....

Re: Does the posture matter?

while sitting in a chair lacks the solid stability. I disagree. I sit in a straight -backed chair because of a problem from a knee injury years ago. My teacher(s) suggested I do that - and to keep my spine as straight as possible. I also sit on a garden chair outdoors, weather permitting, because I...

Re: Do Arahants need to sleep?

.

In a section about Sigalovada Sutta at ATI it says :
Now it was the custom of the Buddha to rise from his sleep at four o'clock

...so if the Buddha slept, then presumably others who are Arahants sleep too.

Re: Are collective apologies valid?

. I think its really good that people should regret the acts of their ancestors and resolve not to do the same thing. As far as kamma is concerned I recall that the Buddha said: There are these four unconjecturables that are not to be conjectured about, that would bring madness & vexation to anyone ...

Discussing percentages make me peevish after my morning bath.

Re: How much happy are you?

Can happiness be accurately described as a percentage?

I think that a period of time with a peaceful mind free from the chatter of conceptual thoughts might be possibly be defined as a type of "happiness."
