Re: What is Metteyya's Name, Right Now

Hi Andrew,

Re: Does anyone know about 'e-paper e-readers'? Recommendations would be appreciated

my eyes are still having problems, and the light from the computer screen doesn't do them any good. Have you tried an anti-glare screen and/or a coloured overlay, eg blue? I had problems with excessive screen brightness on my new laptop, so I put an anti -glare screen over it and also a sheet of cl...

Isn't that known as a "Butterfly mind," or "Monkey mind" ?

Re: Living as Buddhists in an age of 'Information Overload'

Why keep quoting lamas then ? Because the importance of the quote matters as much as the content within that quote and not the identity of the individual within the limits of what is being discussed. I have seen people quote from those who not part of any school of Buddhism yet the value is meant t...

Re: New Journey In Buddhism

I am very new to Buddhism. There are three Tibetan Buddhist Centres within half hour drive of my home, but I am interested in the Theravada Tradition. Any suggestion on where to start would be grateful. Any websites etc where I can find information and learn from would be most helpful. Hello Azzari...

When the Buddha says it. The Buddha can be brutally frank, because of his special status. But ordinary people, when they're trying to be brutally frank, they're usually just frankly brutal.

Better to try and communicate right speech by example, rather than preach about it. Preaching to others can in itself become insensitive .

Re: Sutta about not listening to music

The benefits of not listening to music are that they give you a basis to eliminate sense pleasures (such as on the path to once or non-returning). I found that over a period of time in the past when I was studying and practising regularly, my interest in listening to music every day just faded away...

I 'd never even heard of the term "virtue signalling" until I read this topic title.

Ah well, there's an old saying "ignorance is bliss"... which might even be true in the 21st century!

Goodnight all.

... Its just a yardstick to see how much valuable is the Dhamma compared to news which is just impermanent Samsaric trash. I wonder if anything really catastrophic happened to your family and the community where you live, you'd still just consider it "impermanent samsaric trash" ? I prefer not to d...

Lol. I know right? I dont understand why a certain group needs to get more privilage than the rest.
