Re: Hello! I am back

Dear Buddhists, My screenname is Dharmasherab. I was born Theravada Buddhist but recently I entered Vajrayana Buddhism. However I still maintain my Theravada practice and continue to learn Theravada like I have always done. I hope to read important threads in Dhamma Wheel forum and get directions f...

Re: The 'silent crisis' of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh

. I highly recommend listening to this talk about kamma that Ajahn Amaro gave at Amaravati Monastery a few years ago . He says that deterministic views about kamma are very common amongst westerners as well as asians - but that kamma isn't fixed because if it was, liberation would be impossible. [me...

Re: What is Nibbana?

I can understand the bit that says that nibbana is the end of all that is conditioned. No more rebirth in the realm of kama, rupa or arupa cause they are all subjected to ceasing... But it also says that nibbana is not non-existence. It is not nothingness. It is merely the supreme bliss, the superm...

Can one be reborn as a flying pig in a heaven realm?...or would one get cooked and eaten by devas?

I came across this article:

"Dreams and Their Significance"

I usually sleep peacefully and rarely ever have dreams myself.

Re: Rebirth - So many human beings

I think if you are trying to look at this mathematically, it is probably something that will drive you crazy. You can't break out a calculator and figure this out. The Buddha shared this to describe a general process, it is best left there. I agree, to me speculating about the rebirth of beings on ...

Re: May all beings be well and happy

The short question is, how if I recite "may all beings be well and happy" and I feel warm feeling and experience peaceful mind. And then I recite it again because it brings mental pleasure. Can we say it's connected with greed? Can anyone share your thought please, thank you. Hi D1W1, Wishing happi...

Re: The Buddha and sleep

Some people find that if they go to sleep mindfully, resolving to wake up after a certain number of hours, they will in fact wake up at the time determined. I don't know if any other methods were employed, though there are several possibilities. When I was a child my alarm clock often didn't work, ...

Re: Eating in the restaurant

The rule you cite is for monks, so does not apply to lay people. If you eat meat anyway, then most of what you eat has been killed for sale in the market. This gives you the option of continuing with eating meat because it hasn't been killed specifically for you; continuing to eat meat even if it h...
