Re: Kamma_2 Questions

Buddha said something more important, by other words. He said that we should analyze his teachings. I am a little disapointed. If i ask about siddhis, if i ask about kamma, etc, the answer is always "That are not important questions". They are important! One should get a general idea and s...

Kamma_2 Questions

1- Kamma law is a hard one to get. There are some situations in real life that makes me a lot of confusion, so let me see if i can explain it, so you can understand my doubts and help me. For example, lets imagine that once i killed someone.Thats the cause (kamma) for a future "ugly" resul...

Re: Belief in rebirth, realms, siddhis, etc

In fact i forgot the "i dont know option". :-)

Also, take the questions lightly. Dont go in to much detail. And people, you should try to discuss more and give less attention to the poll itself. :-)

Belief in rebirth, realms, siddhis, etc

Sometimes i dont know what buddhists think about some more mystical or "strange" (strange, to western people) concepts, like the existence of siddhis, or other realms of existence. So, the questions in the poll, are meant to be answered both in the poll and in the thread. Also, have in min...

Re: Is Theravada Less "Religious" than Mahayana?

In my opinion- the opinion of someone with little pratice on meditation and just some bare knowledge on general buddhism - is that actually you may start your practice slowly, without choosing exactly right now your path (and in the end, that path is very similar on many aspects i think). Be it Maha...

Re: Confusion about eternally of "soul"

Hi! Just a quick thing, since i must be fast right now lol: when i spoke on reencarnation, i just used that word in a "common way" not a "technical" one. I know that difference between reencarnation and rebirth :-) I would like to comment a thing that dhammakid said: if there is ...

Re: Confusion about eternally of "soul"

Interesting. So, Nibbana is really "let go" EVERYTHING, since even compassion stops. Sometimes it seems that nibbana is like a suicide! lol Sometimes, dont you feel some kind of fear about Nibbana?? Sometimes i feel it, i dont know to explain why or how is that fear, but i have it sometime...

Re: Confusion about eternally of "soul"

So, as a conclusion, is there any form of conscience on nibbana [read: nibbana after death] or not? Any form of inteligence? For example, could it be possible for a "someone" in nibbana, a buddha, come back to life (be it as a spirit, a body, etc) in order to help others?? Other related qu...

Re: Confusion about eternally of "soul"

But still, nihilism is there: if 5 aggregates disapear with Nibbana (is that so, do they disapear?), isnt that total desintegration of something? By the way, there are some aspects of nibbana that i still dont get: when a person (5 aggregates) reaches paranirvana (in a rude way: when reaches death o...

Re: Confusion about eternally of "soul"

I am (still) doing some homework, and reading the links someone gave here. From what i understand, "we"/"i" is just the 5 skhandas. "we" are just sensations, volitions, toughts. Nibbana is reached when these cease to exist. So, can i conclude (and i know that i wrong, b...

Re: Confusion about eternally of "soul"

Thanks for some of the good links you guys gave me :-) - later i will read them carefully. For now, i think my question is still not answered lol.I see discussions here that leads me to conclude that this is a hard question. Maybe its too much of a "philosophical" question, and so with no ...

Confusion about eternally of "soul"

Hello everybody! This is my first topic here on the forum. I hope you may forgive my english (its not my mother tongue). My question here is about a basic teaching on general buddhism, but still a hard one to understand completly: the existence of an eternal soul (the old atman and anatman problem)....
