Advice needed: what not to do when observing 8 precepts
During these days I try to observe the 8 precepts as much as possible. But it's quite hard to focus just on dhamma practice and meditation for the entire day since I'm a student and I have so much of projects and work I need to finish every day. And this is probably the only time I will get to pract...

Abhidhamma?
There are so many things in the dhamma I have yet to learn. And Abidhamma is one of them. I've seen mentions of Abhidhamma in so many posts and I am generally confused about what it is (and the google definitions aren't really helping). I basically want to know what Abhidhamma is. Is it like suttas?...

Re: Sense restraint
You could try and observe higher precepts(like 8 precepts or 10 precepts). It really helps since you have to avoid sensual pleasures as much as possible and live the day imitating great arahants. Also, some of the precepts specifically restrain you from enjoying sensual pleasures or forms of enjoyme...

What is Buddhism: clear explanation
Hello all. I came across a video by a monk which clearly explains what Buddhism is and I think it would be really helpful for anyone that is new to Buddhism and wants to get an overview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VA4Aa6qz6S4

Re: Five questions on meditation
For walking meditation, there are different types of meditations you can practice. You can spread Metta(loving-kindness). You can also read this for a very detailed understanding on walking meditation https://www.accesstoinsight.org/lib/authors/silananda/bl137.html In the Great Discourse on the Foun...

Re: Ratana Sutta chanting tips?
Just keep count as you recite. After a while you will associate the first few words of a verse with its number, then the rest of the verse just follows the first few words from memory. Inviting the deities to listen Requesting them to bless the audience Buddha Ratana Dhamma Ratana Sangha Ratana Eig...

tips on reading the Majjhima Nikaya
I'm trying to read the whole Majjhima Nikaya during this time. I've started reading a few and I noticed that the first suttas can be very complex. Does anyone have a list of suttas from the Mijjhima Nikaya to read as a beginner, which isn't too complex and deep? Thank you in advance.

Re: Monks/nuns and the Internet
In the monastery that I attend, there is only a land phone for monks to make phone calls when necessary. There is also a computer that is used by the chief/most senior monk to communicate with monks in other branches of the monastery and other important things like that. But even that computer isn't...

Re: Are some deva (deities) not opapatika?
1. Are all devas opapatika? I ask this question because in one sutta called "Nandivisala sutta" a deva called Nandivisala was referring to his body being a womb-born structure. 3. Where and how are their opapatika birth taken place? This, I am not sure about. I have also had questions abo...

I am aware of the teachings of Nirapekshathvaye maga, I find content to extremely misleading and dangerous. Could you list a few those “extremely misleading and dangerous” content from Nirapekshathvaye maga? I DO KNOW that there is nothing “extremely misleading and dangerous” at the Waharaka site f...
