How to define the True Dhamma only last long 500 years?

Dear all, In the Vinaya text(Vinaya Pitaka>Culavagga>Bhikkhuni khandaka) While the Mahapajapati Gotami requested to join the Bhikkhuni Sangha, the Buddha has claimed the Buddha's Sasana will only last for 500 years. ‘‘Sace, ānanda, nālabhissa mātugāmo tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye agārasmā anagāri...

Re: Chinese monk Fa Xian travelled to India seeking Buddhist scr

Since Fa Xian had obtained the Agamas(Which it was in Sanskrit) from the Ceylon, at that time it was no Pali Tipitaka but Sinhalese texts, ven.Buddhagohsa translated them to the Pali.

According to the Mahavamsa(The great Chronicles), at that time. it was the Abhayagiri's influence in the Ceylon before the great commentator-Acariya Buddhagohsa came to place, which they too accepted the Sanskrit texts(including Mahayana's Sutras) , so probably Fa Xien has obtained the Abhayagiri's ...
