Re: Monastics and suicide

As a person who is working with people everyday I also meet and help those who have these thoughts. The problem is that its not viewed as an illness among society, and I feel like the procentage that actually would seek a phycicians help with these kind of things in a monastic community is even lowe...

Re: A monastics thoughts of the path of the bodisattva

But I Guess it's only a natural thing that both diverse concepts of mind and an experience of oneness would arise at the same time.. it actually is not a problem either.. that is just the way we human beings are

Re: 8 Precepts

So the reason I fail most often now is not because of my own internal stress anymore but rather because others keep offering me food in the afternoon. And I dont have the heart to say no. But that I can live with 😊 It's a Mara the Tempter. He is a nice guy, he want our well being, but the only that...

Re: 8 Precepts

Thank you for your long reply. I'll probably get there someday. If not in this life then in the next. :) I wish you well, just wanted to mention (in case the last thing you wrote was a pressing concern for you), the main point is to see the Dhamma before we depart this world (even at the very last ...

Re: A monastics thoughts of the path of the bodisattva

One thing that I thing is important to mention and to emphasize is that the actual path and practice of buddhism is far more experiential than conceptual. :anjali:  Thank you, this helped me. I was lost in my own concept. May you be happy. May you be well. May you be free from all su...

Re: Sutta Reading/Listening and Meditation

oh, okay, I already listen to all sermons I can find (Youtube, Amarvati and so on), I thought you meant a pali canon audio book which would be nice since I'm always so lazy, only use the suttas as reference (which is pretty often though since I don't watch anything else online anymore), mostly acess...

Re: Introduction and musings about Christianity and Buddhism

This is a hard question to answer, are buddhism and christianity compatible? Buddhist view of self: Self is only a series of thoughts, feelings and the physical changes coming and going. Christian view of self: Definitive, you have a body and some kind of soul made up of what? mind? And b...

It is like reading a book about a medical operation vs doing the operation itself, or reading a book about investing vs actually investing money.
:goodpost:

But can you really listen to the suttas? Were do you find the audiofiles? :geek:

You do not understand dhamma, dhamma is always present, only covered by the illusion of you. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ESs3t5gLOoI/XW1gWBnz21I/AAAAAAAAE5o/V5hN_1xFZacIz-0WDzk5XwH9pm6yTr1wwCLcBGAs/s1600/images%2B%25281%2529.jpeg

Re: 8 Precepts

You might want to be careful because it could lead to stomach / gastric cancer . My wife is a Chinese physician , last year she diagnosed a patient with obstipation but she was a final stage cancer patient . If she came half year earlier there is still a chance to treat it. Thank you for your care....
