Re: No self theory do I get it right?

These are three essential points in your post. 1) When consciousness exists in the universe, the illusion comes from its fragmented state... 2) ... inter-being is one consciousness, spread out over several locations in the universe... 3) ... everything is dictated by the absolute causality... 1) is ...

Re: No self theory do I get it right?

so don't even pretend you know what is meant with the no self and on what... unknot...untie knots etc. It was nice chatting when there was less pride. If there is a self then where did it come from? Your mother or father? The self is the origin of knots and you will tire yourself into their webs by...

It means freedom from past, present and future. Edit: https://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/sn/sn35/sn35.145.than.html "So, monks, I have taught you new & old kamma, the cessation of kamma, and the path of practice leading to the cessation of kamma. Re: No self theory do I get it right?

Some things do seem solid and stable I agree. However, they are like the presentation of a rainbow from a distance. When you closely look you will find no essence. When you wake up from the dream of self you will breathe relief and your body will be suffused with joy; the mind and appearances become...

Re: No self theory do I get it right?

Since everything is changing, like manasikara itself, there is nothing stable within or without; what importance is your so called self realization? This is not the objective of the Buddha dharma. 1.when the being what appears to be immoveable and permanent while the arising perishing and change is...

Re: No self theory do I get it right?

Hi there. By everything I mean all that exists. Now you got me thinking... Is a Buddha's wisdom a thing subject to existence, non existence, both or neither. I've read a few suttas but I don't claim expertise. I've always thought wisdom is what we call when there is a lack of phenomena not a thing ...

Re: Do I get more merits if I give more?

If you practice the path of non attachment and non self, then yes. The purpose of merit is ease in body and mind which aids in the development of wisdom.

I'm not sure what you mean. Could you clarify without using suttas?

Re: No self theory do I get it right?

Do you call your awareness your consciousness? Do you own it or was it given to you by another?

Also, are you trying to prove your case or are you trying to test your observation?

Re: No self theory do I get it right?

To ordinary people who are not engaged on the path to awakening I do not discuss whether or not there is a self because it is futile. To those who wish to develop changeless wisdom, to untangle the knot of views and to put an end to craving - they should understand there is no self. If there were a...

Re: Should nuns and monks be political?

Greetings, So what political philosophy do you think he was? I think that's an off-topic detour that has been covered before in older conversations. I'm a little time-strapped at the moment, but I'm sure someone can find such a discussion for you, if you're unable to find one. Metta, Paul. :) Meh. ...
