This is what confuses me. Most Buddhist scholars say when it comes to thoughts, whether good or evil, we need to let go, suppression is not the way. But here it seems that the Buddha is encouraging suppression of some kind. He doesn't say let go, be aware, etc. He clearly says beat them down, subdu...
