Re: I am done talking about the dhamma with non buddhists

Okay I forgot to clarify something very specific, when I mentioned it was hard to eliminate suffering I did it because my dad told me he had a big discussion with a coworker and each other did not want to talk to each other out of anger. He knows I practice the dhamma to some extent and have been ta...

Re: I am done talking about the dhamma with non buddhists

I don't either but I think when people want to know more they start to suspect the teaching is beyond the mundane view.

Re: I am done talking about the dhamma with non buddhists

My experience is trying to teach anyone any religion is dangerous. We are strongly attached to our views. It is not even easy to discuss Dhamma in a very liberal and tolerant forum like Dhamma Wheel. My advice is to discuss Dhamma with only people who are very close to you like a family. In your ca...

Some people are incapable of understanding natural law, that's the point.

I am done talking about the dhamma with non buddhists

Generally I would talk about the Buddha's teaching with someone close to me asked my opinion about a certain topic regarding moral dilemmas but today I was talking to my father about work relationships and I said "is hard to get rid of suffering" and he scolded for being too complex, there were a mi...

in Buddhism sensuality is seen as an evil, so if you engage in it you will be seen as a lower practitioner.

Re: How have your relationships changed over time as a Buddhist?

Well I've never had a relationship... so pretty much the same 🤣 :jawdrop: Really! How can you be a human and have never had a relationship in your life? To be clear, I am not talking about Romantic relationships, nor am I solely talking about friendships or business partnerships. By relationships, ...

Re: Hello from Chile

hola bienvenidos por qué necesitas un maestro de dhamma? los suttas son suficientes Thanks! Sure, it's great just to have access to all the suttas and talks – I've always preferred learning on my own. But it would be nice to have an option to visit a teacher and a sangha. Hello: Nice to meet you :)...

Re: Celibacy as a lay person and kamma

Why is celibacy for a layperson a big deal at all? It's all about encouraging an accurate mindset of the concept. No need for repression or unhealthy techniques to suppress. Some of people in this thread seem to suggest that sex is such a powerfully good thing it has to be inherently stressful to g...

Wow, is his abstinence a voluntary one?, if so please give him my sincere congratulations. Smile Dhammarelax Thank you very much! It's me! But I decided I would be judged the wrong way... Yes, I did have a girlfriend for a few months in high school, but it was not a serious relationship and I do no...

Re: should I marry or be single?

I wonder how many people who become Buddhist or are attracted to Buddhism do so because they feel they've been rejected when it comes to the social aspect of life and find solace in the solitary aspect of Buddhist practice. I think the risk there is you're ignoring the underlying issues that lead t...

Re: Was the Tathāgatha in favour of death penalty?

I read once in this forum someone (I believe it was @doodoot) claiming the buddha agreed with the death penalty. I doubt @doodoot said the Buddha agreed with the death penalty but @doodoot might have said the Buddha accepted it, i.e., did not crusade against it. There countless suttas about this, s...

Was the Tathāgatha in favour of death penalty?

Hi everybody I hope you're all well 🙏🏻 I read once in this forum someone (I believe it was @doodoot) claiming the buddha agreed with the death penalty. Sorry for sounding so direct but I was curious to know the context of this, it was something like: "the king has the right to execute someone who br...
