Re: Hillside Hermitage and Ajahn Nyanamoli Thero

It can take a while to arrive. My copy did. Thanks for your answer! Just to have some references, how much time did it take? I live in Chile, in South America, so I think it would take a little longer than what most people have to wait. ¿Practicas con Buddha-dhamma Chile a cargo del Venerable Gyamt...

Re: should I marry or be single?

Being married is hard work. You would be including someone else in your life and it can't be just about what you want to do. Worse if you have children. At least become a Stream Enterer first and see if you still want to do it. I believe the path will take one more and more into a renunciate if wis...

Re: should I marry or be single?

Maybe I exaggerated when I say one is seen as a lower practitioner but the dhamma being a doctrine of renunciation and peace praises the noble life of those who don't delight in sensuality so it's not black or white but any effort of sense restraint may increase the due progress in the path. Person...

Yes of course, the Buddha teached to not associate with fools, and as you know someone completely unrestrained, without S...

I believe ultimately the dhamma pushes celibacy as the best way to practice.

Re: I am done talking about the dhamma with non buddhists

Okay I forgot to clarify something very specific, when I mentioned it was hard to eliminate suffering I did it because my dad told me he had a big discussion with a coworker and each other did not want to talk to each other out of anger. He knows I practice the dhamma to some extent and have been ta...

Re: I am done talking about the dhamma with non buddhists

My experience is trying to teach anyone any religion is dangerous. We are strongly attached to our views. It is not even easy to discuss Dhamma in a very liberal and tolerant forum like Dhamma Wheel. My advice is to discuss Dhamma with only people who are very close to you like a family. In your ca...

I am done talking about the dhamma with non buddhists

Generally I would talk about the Buddha's teaching with someone close to me asked my opinion about a certain topic regarding moral dilemmas but today I was talking to my father about work relationships and I said "is hard to get rid of suffering" and he scolded for being too complex, there were a mi...
