Re: Arahant and Action

I would say this is an issue which is not properly addressed in early Buddhism. Later tradition has attempted to work it out, but in quite an unsatisfactory way in my opinion. Then there are those who would say something like... Become an Arahant yourself and then it would be clear (which makes me r...

Re: Heartbeat relating to jhana

It happened to me, long ago, twice. It can be quite a strong experience, and it is definitely related with strong concentration. At the moment it was scary, and somehow the feeling that 'I' was about to die was there. I don't think you can map it onto the jhana scheme of things, but it feels just li...

No I don't "believe" they are Arahants I know they are.
As I've said before it takes an Arahant to point out other arahants.

Re: Understanding procrastination

the first Pāli word that comes to my mind is Pamāda, and it is a quite common and important word in the cannon, as well as it's opposite appamāda.

Re: Can Theravada buddhist temple accept non buddhist donations ?

Venerable , Could you explain if it is against not taking money precept ? Isn't that allure monks become greedy ? Some monks, even though they do not handle money directly, take an active roll in managing funds, and making economic decisions. Others own land as part of a "trust" and so on. It is po...

Re: Can Theravada buddhist temple accept non buddhist donations ?

Of course they can (and many do). If it is proper or not, that's a different story... You would be amazed at how flexible some monks can be with their beliefs about kamma when there is money involved

Re: Please convince me that Theravada Buddhism is NOT a non-dual school

I guess it could be said that way, but personally makes less practical sense, and feels too "overconstructed" if that makes any sense

Ignorance is dual, ignorant beings need dualistic teachings. the Dhamma is beyond dual and non-dual

Re: Did meditation really "die out" ?

There has always been monks practicing in the forest or secluded from the rest of the world. They usually don't leave any marks, text's, buildings or anything. So when people look back in time and they are unable to find any record of a meditation practice tradition thru archeology, texts and the li...

Re: Savatthi/Shravasti: need advice

look for Pubbārāma the "Easter monastery. It is about 30 or 40mins walk from Jetavana and it seems that it's not in most people's radar. There is one Bhikkhu taking care of the place who is very kind and willing to help practitioners, the place is very quiet and secluded from the tourist chaos and t...
