Re: What is a strawmam?

Greetings, If that is what is actually said, then it can be quoted. If it is not what is said, then it risks being a misrepresentation. That misrepresentation, foisted upon another, is a strawman argument. Metta, Paul. :) If the owner if the view wants to claim it he can. Waiting.....

What is a strawmam?

If someone says 99.9% of Buddhism is primitive and false and you ask for clarification, is this a straman? :strawman: :strawman: :strawman: :strawman:

Re: 99.9% of Theravada is primitive, false

I read somewhere on the internet that almost all buddhism is false. Where exactly was this read? From your own post , below? (click to enlarge) If is often said: " the first sign of madness is talking to yourself ". What about reading your own posts? Is the 2nd sign of madness rea...

Re: Having an administrator from a Theravadan country?

Maybe to have someone here from a Theravadan country?? What is a Theravadin country? There are countries that are majority Theravadin, but no country is 100% Theravadin. There are Christians, Muslims, Hindus in Thailand and Myanmar, for example. Theravadan country means the culture is indigenous fo...

Re: 99.9% of Theravada is primitive, false

The view is indefensible.

Lets see if it will be defended by it's owner(s)....

If it is not claimed within 48 hours thread can be closed and the silence will speak volumes.

Having an administrator from a Theravadan country?

Just an idea as Theravada is not Mithraism - its a living tradition. Maybe to have someone here from a Theravadan country?? That has heard Pali chanting from since inside their mothers womb? Maybe this could help with....authenticity? Totally of the hook suggestion here? I mean there is nothing wron...

99.9% of Theravada is primitive, false

I read somewhere on the internet that almost all buddhism is false. That a tiny vangaurd of intellectual elites and their followers within the past 40 have revived the True Esoteric message of the Buddha.

Re: Why Buddhism is not growing?

Jews tend to be overrepresented in virtually all intellectual areas.

Firefighters and carpenters? Not so much.

Re: Why Buddhism is not growing?

In fact, Arthur C. Clarke a futuristic visionary, in one of his books, mentioned that Buddhism will be the only religion that will survive by the year 2050 and that scientist cannot hammer it down or destroy it. It sounds like you think Arthur C. Clarke was a Buddha with psychic powers. The way the...

Re: Poe's Law - Defense

Greetings, Did I not just say I'm not partaking in your martyrdom? No it wasn't me. Correct. Only adminstrators have the ability to revoke a member's "signature" access when they abuse it. Similarly with other functions (like editing, or PMs) that members can, but thankfully rarely abuse....

Re: Poe's Law - Defense

I just will continue to compassionately warn innocent would-be victims of the truth until I am banned again. You're trying way too hard to get that to happen. I won't support your martyrdom this time. Meh, I could care less. Its obvious your intent is to continue to allow low IQ individuals like Da...

Suddenly you have something good to say about me. After all the insults documented in the thread and elsewhere? I don't believe you. I don't believe you are honest at all. ... Believe whatever you want. Believe I banned you in that thread two months back (when I didn't) because I was too "cowa...
