You could also add citta bhavana
I think 'citta bhavana' is not just for devotion. It could mean any developments of the mind.
Thinking means your guessing or trying to measure with logic

No difference between devotion and cultivation of the mind, citta bhavana is not dualistic.

Re: Slaughterhouse workers

So , should consumers share a part of the slaughtering karma ? Apparently not, but I'm hoping that's another benefit of veganism. Millions of creatures are killed to grow vegetable use of pesticides. More crops are grown to feed animals farmed for slaughter than for humans to eat vegetab...

Re: Can one equate nibbana to Atta ?

I found this a few weeks by Ledi Sayadaw which captures it perfectly. Although without experience or vision into Ultimate reality while still in human existence it will keep baffling people attached to words and intellectual or belief views. Nibbana~Nirvana is onefold according to its intrinsic natu...

Re: Can monks go traveling ?

Any prohibition for monks to travel and sight seeing ? Its very healthy for renunciates to move around, and is recommended, mostly they stay in one place for the rainy season. The first and only priority for a wandering sadhu is that his motive is for self purification and spreading the dharma. Wal...

Re: Why it is called wheel of Brahma ?

BrahmA the creator dev is not the same as Brahma as Brahman, its a common mistake ... I think that means we must all be really careful to be as clear as we can in what we write. Brahma pronounced the same as Ajhan Brahm This can sometimes take time as we may need to shift our view to see what is be...

Re: Unorthodox enlightenment

Maybe the closest thing to unorthodox enlightenment in recent times would be Osho, who is not popular wth the conservatives. Osho is very misunderstood, if one could understand when he speaks in Hindi one will get the full spectrum of what Osho is saying. The Krishnamurtis both UG and Jiddhu are not...

Re: Why it is called wheel of Brahma ?

Wheel of Brahma is so called because a vehicle (Dhamma) usually has wheels to take someone from A To B, That wheel sent by Brahma is the dhamma wheel, the 7 relay chariots all have wheels leading to brahma, the 7 relay chariots are the 7 chakras, its very simple. Is there any difference between dha...

Can we separate Buddha from his Dhamma?
No we cant separate them ,but are they exactly the same. Its a very subtle topic, maybe to subtle to explain by words, in Sanskrit these things are termed as acintya.

Re: Why the references to Brahma

Good topic question. Brahma seems to have been used in Hindu Vedas to mean the supreme being who created this earth and beings. But Buddhist texts use this word with brahmajala sutra , Brahma vihara , brahmacari. In all these a common indication of supremacy in darma is denoted. Brahmajala ...

Re: A practice thread?

Unfortunately with these sites you have to read your way to enlightenment, and if you dont know books you dont understand Buddhism apparently, gradually in this way they will take away the real teachings of the Buddha, or so they think, there is no cure for shortsightedness. its also a form of contr...

Re: Are five indriya and five bala different ?

They are not the same but exist at the same time, in the same way as heat and light from the sun. I would prefer to say that they are developed with jhana experience, not that we develop them. It may not be exactly what your asking for but it gives some clues. https://puredhamma.net/key-hidden-dhamm...
