Re: Greetings from Melbourne

Hello again.
Anyone know of strong temples or monasteries to sit in Thailand, say Bangkok, Chiang Mai, or elsewhere? For instance the bophit at Wat Po is one where it's easy to sit.
Thanks for any shared tips, I'm going on a travel.

Re: Semen retentive sex and Buddhist practice

Or maybe possibly what is meant is energy lost in recreating lost sperm. Well maybe if one is sexually active in my opinion. And more pertinent is to save energy in a tough living environment a hundred years ago. But what of it, a low mood and non energetic meditation, so could some humour remedy th...

Re: Are the gods and deities mentioned in Sutta are just the mythology?

Obviously, this is wrong. chownah Why? The suttas (eg AN 4.123 ) appear to say those delighting in jhana are reborn as/with gods of streaming radiance. Hey d.d. I have sat with some senior monks. I believe you can feel it from some of them. It feels like purity, or like a clarity in the forehead. I...

Re: human population , Sutta

Sutta says in the old days world was crowded as hell. Villages, towns and capital cities were chicken flight apart. i am thinking more like billions of peopel in the world like its nowadays. It doesn't take a lot like 20-30 years to forest grow and take over a once human habitated places erasing it...

Re: Dangers of Marijuana

Although possibly biased, quite a few government publications show that psychosis and dope use are common. So people with genetic tendencies for mental disorders and who may be fine in this life, very quickly lose mental health by using dope. Sadly we've all seen it I think, as in 5 seconds I'm awar...

“Enlightenment is not a state of mind. It is the realisation of love…” ... Re: Greetings from Melbourne

Hello again, thanks for previous assistance. I saw some talks mentioning the dependent liberation sutta and process. Is there a typical timeline (eg 3 months in a monastery, 3 years at home, or retreat) for such a process starting with Piti and is the last stage feeling like a promise of some kind o...

Re: Listening to music generates demerit

Making participating and dancing to a rythm is also an object of concentration and good for the body and more, I believe, and can be a good preparation for natural attainments. African peoples have been reaching attainments before formal meditation culture developed in my opinion. I know it's a Budd...

If dhamma is not a construct, what does it feel like once realised within. Is it different to different body types and senses, I wonder. Is it throughout the body or more central to the senses, nerves...

Re: Are there two types of satipaṭṭhāna; where one type has jhana?

Hi, I understand that jhana can come and go in sleep or half sleep when lying down, or in meditation, or in technique which for me is a doing attachment. I understand that its appearance depends on the person but my understanding is that it is not anatta and not dharma and therefore might only somew...

Re: Greetings from Melbourne

Welcome :hello: That is the most amount of questions in the introduction post i've ever seen in my time on DW  1. It is possible to attain Cessation (supramundane absorbtion) without developing the mundane absorbtion jhanas, if it is possible for everyone i am not sure. 2. Cessation attainm...

Greetings from Melbourne

Hi I was active in formal Vipassana and yoga last century, and haven't been trying to get anywhere since. But now this year...... I think I once woke up in a strong state. I can feel something new that with some formal sitting can have a deep hum or din in my head sometimes more than the high pitch ...
