I prefer reading the meaning of the chant in English then chanting in pali.something about pali that has a tranquilising effect.☺ I was brought up as a Roman Cathol...

Re: What are the Karmic Effects of Lying?

Hello, I've been trying to compile a list of karma vipaka to help me keep the precepts better but I can't seem to find much information about what results from lying. Have you ever noticed how, if you discover that someone has lied to you often enough, and/or over a period of time, that you can get...

Re: How to see dependent origination in meditation?

So knowing his, how does one see dependent origination in Samadhi meditation? You can't see Dependent origination in samadhi meditation.Samadhi is a recharge station.A purification of mind. You can't move in it.So you can't investigate anything. Seeing Dependent origination means you are tracing cau...

Re: Karma is everything!

I've come to the conclusion about karma as well on how important it is and most importantly how it can be manipulated to work in our favour. For example some people view life as a hardship that we all must endure but why..when we can easily just make good karma and open all sorts of doors.we're actua...

Re: What are the Karmic Effects of Lying?

Sorry, I don't have time now to find the sutta references for the below. The first & best quote is from AN 8.40 . Re: The suffering of others

I am not so sure. I have heard and read several times that people may unduly identify withh a self, but suffering remains very real all the same. So telling myself that people are not really people, does not do anything to reduce the suffering they experience. Nor the suffering I myself experience ...
