Hindrance and aggregates of cligning

What is the relation between hindrances and the aggregates of clinging. I know the two groups and what they are but I don't have a good enough understanding of the two to, let's say, explain to someone how they work together.

Re: Samatha Meditation instructions

Hi boundless, The best instruction I have received was via this organisation: https://www.samatha.org/ The best option is to attend a class in person (I don't know where you are based) but you will see that they also do an online version. Failing that, Googling the title that you have given this th...

cycle of life and death question

Hello, There is one thing I just can’t wrap my head around and it is the cycle of life and death. Basically because I see it described in two different ways : 1) as life ending in one place before to spring again in a new body as a physical support, in another realm of existence. 2) as the birth and...

Question about insights

After almost 3 years of practice, I’m still having doubts about insight practice. I understand insights as understood experiences of the characteristics of everything (impermanent, nonself, and insatisfactory). I think doubts come from a wrong expectation of how it actually manifests or happens. I h...

the 6R for Right Effort?

Hello. I’m reading a book about Anapasati Sutta by Bhante Vimalaramsi called called Life is Meditation – Meditation is life. To explain Right Action, the author talks about a tool called the 6R. I googled it and also found quite a few references about it. Is anyone here familiar with this 6R thing a...

Thank you all for your replies! I contacted Arrow River after reading the website. This might very well be the place I was looking for.

Looking for a retreat in western canada or US

Hello, I'm trying to find a retreat somewhere in western canada or western US. I have been searching the web and I find a little bit of everything. I am getting a little confused at this point. Does anyone know good centers/retreats they can recommend? I have a preference for Canada but I wouldn't m...

Help me understand rapture

I'm trying to better understand the 5th contemplation of the anapanasati: Rapture. Could someone help me understand what it is exactly, how to identify it when it happens?

Thank you

Re: What is wrong with Thai tropical climat ?

Thanks for chart. Yes, it's the combination of heat and humidity that gets uncomfortable. Then again, most of us wouldn't like to be outdoors in Canadian winter weather, either. :namaste: Kim We got a nice dry -49c earlier this week in my little town in the arctic. I was just fine. Last time I went...

Re: is the 5th precept seen as "optional" by some?

I like to think of the precepts as "Things that can get us into trouble and can make us suffer". A dozen beers turns me into an idiot each time. A glass of wine during dinner doesn't. So I don't drink a dozen of beers anymore. But I do have a glass of wine over a meal. To me, it's a questi...

Re: Does your body adjust to your meditation time.

I am curious when you say that 20 minutes used to be painful are you talking about similar pain? Not similar pain, no. Now it's more like my muscles tel me they have enough and become painful. Before, it was my legs going num and I hated it terribly. @Caodemarte You're right, little incensement wou...

Does your body adjust to your meditation time.

When I first started meditation, 20 min was a long painful experience. Few weeks later it was super easy. Then it was 1h that was a long and painful experience and after a while it got super easy. sometimes I find it too short. I never have any pain anymore and it's all good. Lately I have been tryi...
