Re: Jhana, sakkāya, where the sukha comes?

Re: silly question

veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami Ajahn Jayasaro translate the word "sikkha" as "training" or "learning", for exemple one of the epithet of an Arahant is "asikkha" or "beyond training/learning" some who no mo need to train his mind. So as I understand the idea here is to apply effort to avoid somethi...

Hello Friends :anjali:

Could some one help me with a sutta where Buddha enumerates topics of "gossip", that bhikkhu should avoid to engage in ? Like : kings, army, etc?
I don't know if someone remember this one ..?

Re: Universe and its constant change....purpose

Mr Nwad, a rainbow was not created, like you created a multi-color paper lantern by folding papers together. No, it is not created, it is the result of the reflection of light on water vapor in the air at a certain angle. Nobody created it, given the favorable conditions, with the existence of cert...

Re: lies lies lies ... lets settle this!

Buddha said that even for protecting someone one shouldn't lie. We lie because of fear of unpleasant feelings. We lie because our sila is not pure and we did something with bad intention. We lie because of delusion. In our practice we seek for the Truth, we try to find the Truth, the Dhamma. So the ...

Because purpose/meaning make things havy, it add a weight to them, make them important, by making them important it makes our mind clinging to them, and craving to them, and suffering about them... But thing are lig...

Re: 2 different types of approaches to reading the Nikayas

1) Read first and understand as what one mostly has no direct experience 2) Read and only accept what one has experience before Which style is more superior? The most superior way of reading is reading one's own mind, the most superiour way of practice is the way that lead to development of wholeso...
