Re: The Five Precepts

Recommendations. You are free to do what you want, but if you dont want to suffer and make suffer others you best to follow these 5-8 etc precepts. They will allow you to develop deep calm of body and mind. And this calm will allow you to descover wisdom. Wisdom will allow you to uproot causes of su...

Re: Wisdom and compassion

As say Ajhan Sona, compassion is not to cry with those who cry, compassion is metta to those who suffer from greed, hatred and delusion. So you can practice all the day.

That would be like chanting a cookbook recipe for an hour. The cake will not be baked.

Re: Why are we attached to the world?

We are attachend to it be cause we are a part of it, made from it, and not exist away from it... To be detached to it, we have to exist from it.
We are attachet to the world like a fire is attached to the burning wood.

Re: Is it possible to enjoy the five sensual feelings once you experience Jhana?

As i understand while a practitioner's mind is able to attain jhana, his perseption of pleasant vs inpleasant is shifted to perception of peace vs exitation, where peace is pleasent and all kind of sensual exitation is unpleasent. As if someone will wear a silk clothes for a while, and then he will ...

Re: Is contemplating AriyaSacca the way to Stream-Entry?

I don't think one can lose it. That's good !) I think this is much more likely closer to death because most people live busy lives and don't really establish these perceptions. It is good to aim high of course but then one should do extraordinary effort if one wants extraordinary results, otherwise...

Re: How to move forward from Sotāpanna?

Very good question ;)

As I can understand, the next step is to practice jhana. Send door restraint, tranquillity etc. And of corse continue with 4 Satipathana.
The best will be to ordain because it's difficult to practice tranquillity and sens door restraint while living a household life... imo

Re: Is contemplating AriyaSacca the way to Stream-Entry?

Thank you Rightview for this compilation of great quotes ! _/\_ :) Iam not an expert but i heard many times that StreamEntry is the most "dramatic, revolutionary" experience in one's mind, while Sakadagami or Anagami are more subtile... but if someone through realisation of Dhamma comes directly to ...

Re: Sotapanna

@SIA Oh yes ) My English is not perfect. What I meant about "nothing more futher" is more about a state of mind, you see that this state of mind is the aim, and the path itself, that there is nothing to do after you will realise it fully, it's a bottom of the glass, and there is nothing beyond that,...

Re: Sotapanna

@SIA Oh its great:) My friends say that my mother is the best on the world, they talk about her love for me even to their mothers... It's funny that you talked about simile abput 'walking on the street vs. seeing a whole town from the top'... It's exactly the simile I used to use to describe the fee...

Re: Sotapanna

@SIA Tanks for answering ! Actualy i had the same experience when I was 21 with the same feelings and consequances. It happened when i was on the chair looking out of the window doing satipathana on thoughts. I don't know if it's some fruit or path, no matter, but it changes your personality complit...

If there is fear so there is no freedom from fear.
Fear is more about suffering rather " surprise". But I Will not debate sorry ;)

If I don't mistake in suttas it's said that only Arahant is free from fear.
