Volunteers Needed for digital PTS project

PTS (Pali Text Society) Sutta collections are being made into sutta ebooks from the Buddhadust.net website. Volunteers are needed to quickly run spell checker and skip all UK spellings and Pali words. Need to cut and paste an excerpt and bold the misspelled word and list the sutta. It is best to set...

Re: Interview: Monk Sits 24 Hours

You can believe or disbelieve as you wish. I am no longer in the same country as this monk and it was done a long time ago. Many monks can sit for long times at this place. There is another monk I could see in the meditation hall who continues for hours after the 4 hour meditation session is finishe...

Re: Interview: Monk Sits 24 Hours

interviewer didn't see him meditating 24 hours in a row. And of course there is no video record either
You don't know monks.. especially this one. He says he moved his legs a few times (in 24 hours). It is all true. He also later did 48 hours.

Re: Interview: Monk Sits 24 Hours

Great interview, many thanks to whoever recorded and transcribed it. That's the real deal there. Venerable, did you know the bhikkhu interviewed? A Venerable Subhuti was mentioned in the interview, was that you at the same monastery. I did the interview and I am Bhante Subhuti so it was not me. The...

TTS of Anguattara Nikaya (Numerical Discourses)

I am a big fan of Text to Speech. I have compiled the Anguttara Nikaya by Ajahn Sujato. This version was the easiest to compile since he does not have any footnotes. I must admit, I do like some of the words chosen in this version. I do however like footnotes and the commentaries, but it just does n...

Re: Wrong Livelihood: Monk’s Alms round

I recently came across this page. It sounds like Stormborn (how about a real name) has misinterpreted me even in person. I never glorified my own stitching of a robe or belittled others. I only noted that it was important to take into consideration that kathina robe making season is 5 months and if ...

Should monks use mixing bowls

Here is an article I wrote about an idea of monks using stainless steel mixing bowls instead of alms bowls.
In the end, I have decided against the practice, but that might change.

Re: Vinaya Comparison of Monastery Allowances

Samana Johann3 , Few people know about Cambodia as a place where foreigners can live or ordain. What is you monastery name and location. Do they use money? Perhaps you can fill out the table with the topics included according to such a monastery you live in. You should be open about it. It is not a ...

Re: Vinaya Comparison of Monastery Allowances

Everything I say is in the BMC. What is not in the BMC, the the reason why it is not followed by "other" traditions. Everything mentioned is public knowledge and I double checked with another monk who is well informed of the Thai Forest Traditions.. There are no names mentioned but it is the way of ...

Re: Vinaya Comparison of Monastery Allowances

Do all branch monasteries of Wat Pa Pong exclude non Wat Pa Pong Monks from Patimokkh? If that is the case now it has not always been the case . In Thailand, it is practiced for a few months until they think you are "fit". They even strip you of seniority. The international wpp monasteries allow th...
