Re: samatha retreats/teachers

Thank you for these wonderful pictures! Is there some place to deposit your valuables for safekeeping? Do monks also stay in similar platforms? How do you manage without mosquito nets? And in the wintertime? Also what is the daily schedule like? Thank you very much. May you be well and happy

Re: Dhammayut Ordination Options

Maybe Ajahn Martin's newly opened monastery Wat Phu Kongtong (about 50km from Udon Thani) - www.forestdhammatalks.org

Apart from the Thai-only part it prob ticks all boxes

All the best:)

Re: Request for help to Ordain under Ajahn Suchart Abhijato (Wat Yan) or Ajahn Brahm

Also geographically it looks to be in a very isolated and peaceful forest. One is welcome to show up without any prior notification. Dear Kiranraj, Al...

Re: Gentle non-mobile meditation timer (battery operated)?

I am basically looking for something that rings once and then stops by itself, ie. one doesnt have to break ones sitting and do anything to turn it off.

Something like a single gong would be most preferable... like on the iphone vipassana app

We have the potential to live in a Pure Land right here on Earth by practising loving kindness and compassion to all living beings and respecting our environment. There's no need for imaginary beings and fantasy realms in other places.

Gentle non-mobile meditation timer (battery operated)?

Does anyone have any suggestions about a gentle meditation timer to be used in a place where one doesnt have access to a mobile phone? Maybe some alarm clock with a soft gradual ring thats small, portable and sturdy - fit to be tossed in a backpack, other than the ridiculously priced Zen Alarm clock...
