Re: Israel calls on world Jewry

DooDoot, Don't worry about reading my other posts or understanding them. Most are trash lol In this post think about the last few posts I did and what they mean. That is something not really tied to "me" at all but a valuable life lesson. You seem intelligent but in life we can get tunnel vision and...

Re: Israel calls on world Jewry

Take time to think about what I said. We are all one family and that family goes past humanity too. This is all existence and we are a family in existence. All made up of existence. In five ways, young householder, the parents thus ministered to as the East by their children, show their compassion: ...

Re: Israel calls on world Jewry

I think a powerful practice for you in life will be to avoid twisting peoples narratives into fitting into your own. Its more powerful to be a Buddhist that trusts in the law of kamma rather than believe a certain group of people are a 'Chosen People' therefore all members of that group are faultle...

Re: Israel calls on world Jewry

I think a powerful practice for you in life will be to avoid twisting peoples narratives into fitting into your own. Sometimes by downright changing the content of it or adding things not present. Best of luck. and don't let hate guide you. Trust me it's only something that adds more suffering. Payi...

Re: Israel calls on world Jewry

Whenever I see the word "Jewry" it makes me think certain people need to practice more. Whatever ideology or spiritual tradition one may hold or even political views. When people start resorting to alienation, hate, "other" and trying to entrench those things in reality and or foundational in frame...

Re: On U.G. Krishnamurti:The Dharma Seals Of A Non-Buddhist

I am referencing a great post and contribution by another member and that I think is great to the conv in general as it is a Buddhist perspective-bridge passage for some of the focuses that other traditions in particular this teacher have given. You seem like your looking for some kind of confrontat...

Re: On U.G. Krishnamurti:The Dharma Seals Of A Non-Buddhist

What I was saying was clearly written under the Pali Canon quote.... Lol maybe include that next time? "Epic shared Pali Canon passage!" Some people need to practice character traits and socializing more.... :jumping: Bhikkhu, ‘I am’ is a conceiving; ‘I am this’ is a conceiving; ‘I shall be’ is a co...

Bhikkhu, ‘I am’ is a conceiving; ‘I am this’ is a conceiving; ‘I shall be’ is a conceiving; ‘I shall not be’ is a conceiving; ‘I shall be possessed of form’ is a conceiving; ‘I shall be formless’ is a conceiving; ‘I shall be percipient’ is a conceiving; ‘I shall be non-percipient’ is a conceiving; ‘...

Re: wat metta in Valley Center CA USA

Speaking of Wat Metta, there is a forest fire in San Diego County right now that is not too far from the monastery. The good news though is that the fire is West of the fairly wide Interstate 15 freeway and the monastery is a few miles East of the freeway, so I'd imagine it would take a pretty big ...

Re: Challenging it all

Definitely interested to post, but at work. Consider this a placeholder. Can't wait PB. I think in some ways this thread could be a great one. Gives us a chance to move past our identities of being "Buddhists" and get to the bones of our lives. We all have had those moments were we kind of just dro...

Challenging it all

So I posted on Dharma Wheel the same kinda similar thing but I am going to change it a bit for this audience. Lately I have been seeing the idea put forth that the Jhana of Cessation of Perception and Feeling is a kind of death and then a reboot of the system were you start seeing how psycho-social ...

Re: Alternative Forms of Vipassana

We can all agree that the most popular form of Vipassana in the world is the technique of Vipassana that is part of the lineage that descends from Ledi Sayadaw. No, we cannot agree about that. We can agree that it is the most popular in India and the West. In Burma, the Mahāsi Satipaṭṭhāna method i...

Ayya Khema & Yogachara

Some years back I read quite a bit from her in a short period.

Now after studying some Yogachara the parallels are pretty clear. Maybe beyond clear... Lol

Any history on her studying this school or some history with it?

What Have You Learned

What are some teachings, perspectives, experiences, or whatever that you have learned a long your walk on the path that have made a lasting and very profound impact in your life? Recently I was posting on The Dao Bums forum and someone addressed my "Sky Gazing" post and included a beautiful Chinese ...

Buddhahood

Strange question. As I have been practicing more and in a somewhat intensive style I am more curious about "Buddhahood". Not in some grandeur way but as an understanding in some sense in it's relation to practice. It has been answered to death the difference between a Buddha and an Arahant in the Th...

Adventure Time!

Some things have recently happened that have given me the insight of how I will probably feel when I am on my death bed dying Lol And I have decided that truly what lays at the heart of my life and meaning is finding out "What the heck is going on here!" I am planning to check out places li...

Re: Sentience & Insentience

I happen to think that the division between sentience and Insentience is largely irrelevant. It is a clear Buddhist teaching that we all inter-are. That the whole point of practice is to get rid of ignorance, including the fundamentally wrong idea that we are a separate self. Once we go beyond the ...
