Re: Vipassana and Qi energy?

there are various kinds of Qi working in the body, the Qi is there but the mind is like magnet for Qi so the Qi follows the mind. If you put your mind into one place to focus on the Qi will follow, the "feel" you have of energy is just that the Qi which is there is following mind to that point and ...

Re: Vipassana and Qi energy?

I'm speaking about mechanism, not choice. Mind cannot follow the Qi, if you meditate you should know it by experience. I think what is meant by 'following' is observing. No, following is following. Re: How to maintain a good enough practice

I have been reading the book "The four foundations of mindfulness in plain english" which I am enjoying however I feel very daunted by the amount of things that the Buddha apparently said one must do to reach enlightenment. Mindfulness of breath, the breath body, mindfulness of body, feelings, thou...

Re: sexuality and the Vipassana meditation

I can't speak for Ben but from what I know I have never heard of a technique in the Theravāda-domain that incooporates sexual activity other than celibacy. :) But correct me if I'm wrong. The early buddhists texts never mentioned a technique based on sexual activity to reach higher levels of consci...

Re: sexuality and the Vipassana meditation

There's a very long thread on masturbation, you might want to review it. From a Buddhist/Dhammic point of view, masturbation s not conducive to the development of concentration and wisdom. For a lay person it is not strictly a breach of the third precept but it is an activity which generates cravin...
