Anxiety, worry, fear, etc.
True beyond a shadow of a doubt. I wish there were likes on this forum (no dislikes, only likes).

Re: Persistent thoughts

Do not worry about the persistent thoughts. See how long they last; it can be a sign of increased concentration. See how long we can make the persistent thoughts last for and when we are finally finished, be happy we did not speak or act on them.

Re: Gender Equality Poll

In terms of existence and getting things done, there is no greater motivation than a woman. I voted them superior for that reason. If one wishes to sidestep existence entirely, then of course a male exposed to Buddha early would be best.

Re: Abortion poll

I personally believe abortion is acceptable up until early-to-mid second trimester, when the fetus begins to animate. Animation is the best definition for when life truly begins. If your fetus has animated, you must now bring it to term and put it up for adoption.

Re: Everything happens for a reason

Ultimately, we are sacks of meat getting off on sensual pleasures. Naught but kamma exists -- it only feels intentional if there was intention behind the original act. The Buddha urged us to consider that perhaps sensual pleasures are not good enough. Life gets impossibly difficult or unbearable at ...

Re: Does Sotapanna have the fear of death?

Stream-entrants still have fear of death, because they feel it is a passive overtaking of the body. Anagami have learned that the secret is not to passively accept death, but to give it hell. Mindfulness of the bodily presence is necessary to fight death. When it is time to go we won't be there for ...

Re: Thoughts On Goal Setting and Manifestations

Keep that good heart. Life is a balancing act that can make us feel truly miserable at times, but if we keep even a small sense of positivity or make the slightest bit of effort toward a positive outlook, the balance can be maintained. As a coach, being able to pivot one's frame of reference around ...

Re: I am a day and a half away from ordination in Thailand :)

This will be fast progress. Remember, as a monk one is considered to be holy (and one might feel pressured to teach). Other than the reverence (and occasional outright worship), the life of a monk is quite pleasurable (or so this one has heard).

Re: What's happening to me. Help please!

The meditation just makes the past kamma come up quick instead of slow. We seek to end the past kamma and arrive at present-moment kamma only. Patient forbearance is required and if one can maintain a heart of good will or even begin to barely develop one during such times, the merit is supreme. Lau...

Meditation is so attractive while under the influence of drugs.

I wish I could be more like Buddha and meditate more while sober.

Goal should be samadhi. Enough time spent in samadhi can cure all kinds of issues.

Re: Where are the arahants ?

We can all be our own arhat. The teachings are the most blindingly obvious aspects of life. Back to contentment with how things are and a little inner practice. Peace is the path.

Re: I give up

Next time there is a peaceful time, go for samadhi. It's a greater peace than deep sleep and can last for a long time. Conditions must be ripe for samadhi; when they do arise, best not to waste them on trivial sense pleasures.

Re: Did Buddha Permanently Dwell in Nibbana or was In-and-Out

I'm happy with all interpretations of Nibbana. Please, don't suffer. If we speak from a heart of good-will maybe we will be happy (hopefully not *too* happy).
