Re: Do followers of Abrahamic religion offer sacrifices to God?
There are no sacrifices in Judaism because there has been no temple to do it in since the Romans destroyed the last one in 70bce if I remember correctly.

Re: Anapanasati - Step 7 and 8
It gets confusing because it isn't really clear if you're breathing and at the same time sensitive and calming fabrications, or if you're meant to be using the breath in that process to become sensitive and calm. The latter seems more likely from the words used in the sutta in my opinion, but it doe...

Re: Will Goenka and Mahasi traditions change...
The suttas only describe the results of meditation rather than the technique itself be that anapanasati, satipatthana or metta suttas. Which is why I'm always suspicious about statements like: "My technique is from the suttas" or "That technique is not in the suttas". [ Patrick ...

Re: Will Goenka and Mahasi traditions change...
It's the same old problem. The suttas only describe the results of meditation rather than the technique itself be that anapanasati, satipatthana or metta suttas. So there any number of tehniques that can justify how they are the ones that are in line with the suttas with either some variation in tra...

Re: Why Buddhism is True by Robert Wright
I got the audiobook of it, and it's a bad audiobook. The printed book might be good, I don't know. But the audiobook sounds almost like a computer-synthesized voice, and is hard to listen to for any time. I've encouraged my partner to read this book as a way into Buddhist thought. She got the audio...

Re: Meditation for Migraines
Thanks for that.
These are useful in terms of the end point I would like to achieve, but I think as you suggest I'm more after practical means, what specific meditation technique may help to achieve this?
Thanks

Meditation for Migraines
I have been experiencing headaches for a while and just had a neurologist diagnose me with chronic migraines. Putting aside any other issues of treatment, cause etc., I was wondering if anyone could recommend which meditation techniques may be most useful to alleviate migraines. I seem to recall Goe...

I have been in analysis for nine months now with a therapist who has partly a Kleinian approach. While it was challenging to begin with I have found it very helpful and plan to continue.

Re: Ringo has been knighted!
Ringo was the funniest Beatle too, just watch them messing around in those old interviews which were conducted so formally.
Don't forget the influence of George Martin either, he played on numerous tracks and wrote much of the orchestral and backing parts.
My favourite band too!

Re: not pooping everyday
The normal medical range is roughly once every three days to three times a day. However, any major change in bowel habit should be investigated if it's not simply down to a change in diet or minor infection.
