Re: Why Westerners can't extend loving kindness to themselves?

If the monastic in the video isn't Theravadin then this belongs in "Connections...". Let me know if I should move it.

I recall hearing a few accounts of goings on in South America. I'll poke around.

And if we could all just bear in mind that this is an all ages website. Let us continue to keep it clean in these tantra threads.

Re: Is there an equivalent to Tantra in Theravada Buddhism?

Didn't Theravada monks in Thailand take advantage of their status and the dana system to exploit large quantities of money from their followers? What does that have to do with Tantra? The same thing your comment has to do with Buddhist Tantra: Nothing at all. Exactly. If you want to talk about corr...

Re: ban heretics

My only issue is that a subject of conversation cannot be maintained due to thread derailing/hijacking. Take for example my jhana thread I created with the intention of finding like minded individuals to help eachother develop jhanas. Instead the thread got brigaded by people who - Do not believe i...

Re: Gradual practice

I will never know 100% for certain if my experiences align with the labels because I never met the Buddha, and unfortunately he's not here to evaluate me, therefore I can only rely on secondary sources. I respectfully disagree. When these things are understood in our experience, they are understood...

Re: Do away with admins

Interesting suggestion. However it isn't so much the decision making "authority" that distinguishes a mod from an admin, it is their access to many more board functions. Quite frankly, considering my very busy life, I would not want that added responsibility. But that's just me.

Re: Can everyone share their views on dependent origination ?

I don't see a consensus on interpretation, just a lot of different theories, not all of which seem well supported by the nidana "definitions" in SN12.2. Like clockwork!! Btw I've been waiting in the other thread for like 5 weeks for you to respond to my last post. I'm getting a bit tired. ...

Re: Has anyone here mastered any of the jhanas?

You can doubt my attainments all you want, it doesn't affect me, but to purposely try to demotivate others from attempting to practice is absolutely unacceptable behaviour. I've seen Zom post a lot over the years and can say with much assurance and certainty that he is not trying to demotivate anyo...

That's fine, we should still strive to get the farthest we can with the best resources we have available. We must be proactive at all times.
I couldn't agree more.

Re: Has anyone here mastered any of the jhanas?

When I said "I don't know what I am" it simply means I am not interested in creating a discussion about my path and derailing the thread further, I also have no interest in discussing it as it is not productive, and is a form of ad hominem as it puts the emphasis on who I am rather than the subject...
