Well- what do you mean by wiping islam off the face of this earth? do you mean harming muslims physically or emotionally? Then No, ofcourse ...

Re: Law against Vitiating in Public!!

I am indeed quite happy with the way of life I was born into and am sure it is a part of my kamma. But it's not about me anyways. My point is that we let other people live out their traditions, in the absence of arrogance and develop more understanding for their way of life. Mutual toleranc...

Re: Law against Vitiating in Public!!

Oh come on, forgive me a little bit of passion here, but this is ß%&§$. America has capital punishment. America had Guantanamo and waterboarding and violent police. Iraq... Need I continue? And there is more... It is of course easier to feel outraged about other traditions, and harder, to truly...

Re: Law against Vitiating in Public!!

lol yeah how do you know who passed gas? These people need to re-evaluate their qualifications for making laws. They need to set up literacy standards for leaders worldwide, that way atleast we will have relatively sane people running countries. What an interesting thought.Relatively sane politicia...

Re: Law against Vitiating in Public!!

But seriously.... Haven't you ever been somewhere where it is OBVIOUS that someone has 'passed wind' - but everyone looks askance at everyone else? How are you going to prove in a court of law that a particular person was the one who vitiated, or how can a police officer possibly justify arresting ...

Re: Law against Vitiating in Public!!

Why are you surprised that other nations have different customs? Do all countries have to live the American way of life? And who's to say what's worse? Muslim nations find appalling what we do: Women who compete with each other in who's wearing less cloths and who's got the bigger silicon boobs. Me...

Re: Law against Vitiating in Public!!

Hello all, The old law states: "Any person who voluntarily vitiates the atmosphere in any place so as to make it noxious to the health of persons in general dwelling or carrying on business in the neighbourhood or passing along a public way, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour." The souther...

Re: Women: more gifted for spiritual life?

clw_uk, Not everything must be inside the context. As we open up our mind and see things, there's much answer than inside the sutta. If were to record what the Buddha said, in books. It would filled up the whole library. The Tripitaka is just 47volumes. I am saying that Tripitaka describe in things...

Re: Women: more gifted for spiritual life?

Hi I wonder whether women might be more gifted than men for spiritual life. I seen 3 reasons why this would be the case: 1°) They seem more attracted to anything spiritual 2°) They seem to know their inner life and their emotions better 3°) They seem to have less sexual desire (which is not a small...

Re: Neurochemistry of meditation.

That's incredibly interesting to me right now, Calahand. I suspect that I have undiagnosed ADHD/executive function disorder and am mildly autistic. This suggests that I have an underdeveloped fore brain. I feel that meditation practice has been very useful to me in alleviating a lot of these proble...

Re: Neurochemistry of meditation.

I've asked a similar question before on another forum, but did not receive a very satisfying response. Does anyone have any idea what goes on in the brain when one meditates? Has there been any science published that I might refer to? :anjali: The prefrontal cortex is particularly well developed in...

Re: Did the Buddha advocate meditation for laypeople?

Thanks Chris! I think this Dhammapada verse may be relevant: 142. He who, though dressed in fine apparel, exercises tranquility, is quiet, subdued, restrain haste, and has ceased to find fault with all other beings, he indeed is a Brahmana, an ascetic,8 a Bhikkhu. So indeed "a Brahmana, an asc...
