Re: Will certain Buddhists on DW please stop disparaging other faiths

I'm sorry, but I have to point out that this is dangerously wrong. Nazis were swimming in lies. Lies about jews. Lies about "race". Lies about their "race". Lies about the history of their "race". Lies about history in general. Nazis were not merely interpreting the facts in a different way. They w...

Re: Will certain Buddhists on DW please stop disparaging other faiths

Actual German neo-Nazis - their perception of their heritage is the only one that matters? Yes, because they look at the same facts as you in order to come up with Aryan supremacy theories. The problem doesn't lie with the facts, but with the interpretation that's made of them. I'm sorry, but I hav...

Re: Will certain Buddhists on DW please stop disparaging other faiths

To the extent that they do what is described in those texts, we need to criticize the texts themselves. But in order to criticize the texts we need to start by aknowledging what is written in them. I disagree. You may criticize their understanding of the texts, but not 'what is written in the texts...

Re: Will certain Buddhists on DW please stop disparaging other faiths

Substantiate your defense of Muhammad, or accept the criticism of Muhammad as statement of fact, and not disparagement. I decline to do either. The select and distorted facts you and others choose to identify here in this Dhamma forum are inappropriate, in my opinion. There are other more appropria...

Re: Will certain Buddhists on DW please stop disparaging other faiths

This might be one way (my cursory attempt) to present a balanced approach, by focusing on the scriptures of a religion as has been done by some here. First a negative aspect and then a positive, wholesome aspect: The Sword Verse in the Qur'an: فَإِذَا انْسَلَخَ الْأَشْهُرُ الْحُرُمُ فَاقْتُلُوا الْ...

Re: Will certain Buddhists on DW please stop disparaging other faiths

Following is a suggested template for reporting anti-Islam posts and other posts which disparage other faiths: Provision 2.d. of the TOS on this forum prohibits, among other things: " Unsubstantiated allegations against individuals or traditions." This post and other similar posts by this Member vi...

Re: Right Speech: Getting Personal

Greetings, ...depends on whether there is a poignant truth to it Agreed - sometimes "the truth" and "the personal" overlap. What gets precedence then? Metta, Paul. :) Hello. I would say that, in most situations, it is more productive and polite to criticize the actions, rather than the person. If, ...

Except that Dharmasherab's quotes are full of lies and misinformation about Islam.
We have provided original trusted canonical sources to back up our solid statements. I'm sorry, but it's time for you guys to provide some substance to your arguments.

Re: Muhammad - Worthy of respect?

Calling Muhammad a rapist is not slander - because that is what he actually did. I suspect many Muslims would disagree. A Buddhist discussion forum is not the proper place to make these claims against the founder of another world religion. Why disparage other faiths here? I get that all this is uns...

Re: Muhammad - Worthy of respect?

I have justified my description of Muhammad with canonical sources. I have made my stance against islamofascism clear and morally justified. I have warned in the past about the numerous problems and dangers that we are now living with in our democracies. I am warning about future attacks with chemic...

Re: Muhammad - Worthy of respect?

I'm damn well certain the UK has not allowed any known ISIS fighters to return to the UK, obviously they're talking about unknown ISIS fighters probably being among people returning to the UK. Robert Spencer is a known hatemonger, obviously he deserves to be banned, just like any real ISIS fighters...

Re: Muhammad - Worthy of respect?

They have barred Robert Spencer from entering, while allowing hundreds of ISIS jihadists to return and remain in the UK. If they did not claim it, they did worse: they acted in acordance to it. Do you welcome ISIS jihadists in the UK, Mr Man? So ""claim that Robert Spencer is more dangerous than th...

Re: Muhammad - Worthy of respect?

IMO demonizing Muslims is unskillful. Which muslims are being demonized? The communists muslims, the social democrat muslims, the social liberal muslims, the liberal muslims, the libertarian muslims, the conservative muslims, the ultraconservative muslims, the fascist muslims, or the jihadist musli...

Re: Muhammad - Worthy of respect?

For exampe, if the UK authorities claim that Robert Spencer is more dangerous than the hundreds of ISIS jihadists that have returned to the UK, then they are doing a clear disservice to the British citizens. Pointing this out is not bigotd or intolerant. It's common sense. Hi Modus Do the UK author...

Re: Muhammad - Worthy of respect?

I have noted the “canonical” and classical sources, even tracing the origin of the story. I am not paid to defend Islam and it probably needs no defense from people like me. I doubt any more light will be shed by my repeating the 1,000 and more years old and ongoing extensive debunking of this sort...

Re: Muhammad - Worthy of respect?

Aisha's age is not the only thing criticizable about Muhammad, as can be seen in the following quotes of the canonical texts: The Quran says: 5:38 Cut off the hands of thieves , whether they are male or female, as punishment for what they have done—a deterrent from God: God is almighty and wise. 39 ...

Re: Muhammad - Worthy of respect?

No, that is simply not true. What is the motive for this stream of unreasoning hatred? ...... If this does not generate excessive controversy, I will quote other original sources that describe several actions of someone unworthy of spiritual worship. If you know anything about the tradition you sho...
