Re: I give up

It's okay, just do Life meditation . And then you could go back to more formal sitting practice when you are ready. Life meditation seems to be the most natural form of meditation to me. When i look at different threads on the forum (including this one) i notice that disagreements is surprisingly w...

Re: Can a sotāpanna committ suicide?

In the case of Godhika ( see commentary by bikkhu bodhi)he attained arahant as a jiivitasamasiisii, one who attains the goal and the end of life at same time. ( same as with channa and vakkali I think). so apparently he slit his throat, felt aversion to the pain or fear, and used those objects to de...

Re: Understanding Vinnana and Namarupa is the key to Nibbana?

Understanding Vinnana and Namarupa is the key to Nibbana? After much contemplation, I came up with the above idea. I The way I understand living Arahants do not have the Vinnana but they still have the Namarupa. When the Arahant attains Parinibbana the Namarupa come to an end. Now I invite the foru...

If a deva does not have a physical body, how does a deva age and how does a deva have a "lifespan"? I

:)
All devas have physical bodies. It is only the beings in the arupabrahma world thst are sans rupa( and thus no body) . They exist due to the force of kamma.

From another post: 3- Sometimes i feel that Buddhists are not so different from other human beings except the terminology they use. Maybe the wishful thinking i have that Buddhism is radically different can be a cause of disappointment. https://dhammawheel.com/viewtopic.php?p=487365#p487365 I can b...

Re: The right to cause offense

Here is another extract from the article by ven. Pesala: One should criticise regarding known facts, and not repeat what is only hearsay. One should blame unwholesome states with one’s intention clearly set on benefit, not on disparaging others. Satire can also do this if it is well written such as ...

Perhaps someone could start a thread discussing the value of patience?

3-? : The Buddha fearlessly confronted the robber and helped him to see the error of his ways. Then, in the face of tremendous opposition from the population, he allowed Angulimala to join the Sangha, and in due time he became an awakened Arahant. The karma of his previous deeds still followed him,...

so do other ppl who disagree with him. I didn't notice you posting any suttas quotes to support your ideas about kamma. Sure, you might quote MN 135 but we have discussed this together before. MN 135 (one sutta to baby brahma boy) does not refute the many lofty supramundane suttas supporting BS's p...
